I am certain this will get the same amount of ridicule the Quayle item did.

Oh, jeepers. The ridicule of Quayle was way overboard when it occurred. For one thing, it wasn't like he misspeleed "cat," and more importantly, who really cares? But, unlike the situation here, it at least appeared as though he genuinely thought he was spelling the word right -- and he got it wrong. This is completely different. The guy simply misspoke! No different than getting someone's first name wrong. Does anyone really think he doesn't know how to spell the word correctly (or if he doesn't, it sure wouldn't be that particulra mistake? Neither situation was a big deal, but there is a qualitative difference between the two that is unmistakable.

I don't blame the President. He said what the TelePrompTer told him to say.
He is of course not to be mocked for this.
He simply misspoke. It is kind if like "if you like your plan you can keep it. If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor". He knew that was not the case and simply misspoke.

Quiz master: The word is potato.
Old McQuayle: P-O-T-A-T-O-E-I-E-I-O, potato!

This does not bode well for his post-presidency Motown cover-singing career...
