You already know how important of a recruit I think Lykes is. He looks like the kind of player others will love to play with because you know if you run the floor, your going to get the rock for maybe a spectacular highlight above the rim play. I hoping we finish the 17 class with Lykes, Pugh, and Jackson with Foster already in the fold. That is an athletic and quick foursome that is multi skilled. Foster, Jackson and Pugh are ridiculously long, skilled and athletic and Lykes is crazy gifted with the ball in his hands. I'M ALL IN FOR CHRIS LYKES, KODYE PUGH, JAREN JACKSON & TYLER FOSTER!!!Brought to you by the Chris Lykes, Kodye Pugh, Jaren Jackson Jr. & Tyler Foster need to Sign with Georgetown Coalition! Note: As you can see the Coalition has expanded its mission. Don't forget about Keldon Johnson....or is he an '18 kid. We want him as much as anyone. We are also going to need a big. Honestly, Keldon and Jaren Jackson Jr are my only to MUST have/want for '17/'18 I do like Lykes and I like Pugh a lot but those above two will be beasts.

I think Lykes is a MUST also only because he will make life easier for all the other pieces. IMO he may be the biggest MUST of the bunch because he brings playmaking ability that isn't on the roster already. Keldon and JJ are talented but you can make a case that when they would arrive on campus there will be pieces in place that can do what they do. Maybe not as well but comparable.....

One question hoya4ever will he be able to come in and play 25 mins a game from day one If need be, I think he could come in and play 20-25 minutes a night and I'm sure there will be games his freshman year where he will play that much and more, but on the plus side with Jagan, Kaleb and a senior Tre (who I've lost a lot of confidence in) will all be on the roster so hopefully Lykes won't have that much pressure and we won't have to completely depend on Chris Lykes! "For a smaller player, he shoots the deep ball with unbelievable accuracy. Lykes absolutely does not miss open shots, and by open I mean if there is not an immediate hand in the vicinity it’s 3 points on the board. With such great elevation on his shot, he gets his jumper off with the effortlessness of a player 6’3”. Lykes’ exceptional pull up jumper and great quickness off the dribble makes him guardable in any pick and roll with a scoring threat as the screener.
Lykes’ appears to have a vertical at least close to 40”, which allows him to finish around the rim with unexpected regularity. Lykes can score at all 3 levels efficiently and his floaters and glass angle usage are almost as impressive as some of his deep ball barrages.
Lykes's game draws an eerie resemblance to Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas with his ability to blow by defenders and get off his own shot with ease, but Lykes is a better shooter already as a high school junior. I would like to see Lykes go to a program that will allow him to run the show with little to no restrictions, local traditional power Georgetown University are hoping to make Lykes one of the cornerstones of a revamped Hoyas program and with players such as Lykes and Bishop O’Connell 4-star junior post Nate Watson on their immediate radar, the Hoyas are definitely moving in the right direction. Lykes’ size will always be a topic of discussion, but if allowed to play his game Lykes’ play will always be the headliner!"
As you can tell The Coalition is continuing to grow...

He is ranked low, in part, because of his height. Right or wrong, there is a lot of perceived risk in taking a PG this short.
Glad that JTIII is on him early and showing the love. Also love that the rankings are keeping him low. Also glad that he is local. All of this can help us land him. You just won't see Duke, Zona, Kentucky, Kansas, etc. spend time on a kid like this because they can have their pick of 6'2" PGs and just won't bother with the height risk.
I think this all helps us.
Defending the perimeter 3 is the biggest question. Also, our big men will need to catch the ball in traffic with a PG like Lykes. Lots of quick drives and interior dump-offs. Got to be ready to catch and go right up strong. Jessie has to get stronger with the ball...

Ranch is on the coalition!
I don't think perimeter defense is a problem. If he can keep a hand in the face of the shooter in college, as he has shown in high school, it will be much better than our present defensive strategy and the Lubick fly-bys. As to the passing inside, I think we'll see Govan get stronger with the hands as he matures (and with practice time with Lykes). Govan should be on the coalition. With a player like Lykes, every teammate neeeds to be on their tip-toes ready for anything, unlike thiis year were you can have your complete foot on the floor.
This team needs an enema!!!

Small guys can mitigate this to some extent by getting into the body of bigger players like Frank Mason did to DSR last year

Small guys can mitigate this to some extent by getting into the body of bigger players like Frank Mason did to DSR last year I agree that our current crop can't defend the 3, but we do have brief examples of when length and height can be awesome on the perimeter, i.e., the short spell we had with Jabril, Otto, and Whitt covering the perimeter was deadly for opponents. Also, Lykes can use that tactic in man-to-man, but not as easily in zone sets. The short PGs have tricks to compensate for their height, and one of them is to stick super close to their man at all times no matter where he is on the court, making it difficult to receive the ball and then getting space to shoot if they do catch it. But Lykes' height factor could be exploited in zone sets. But, I'm all for him. I think we go for it.

I guess and I get what your saying but we match up against small guards all the time and I don't see our big guards scoring over the top of them with the type of ease that would cause me to pause on recruiting a player of that stature..

But it ain't walking back in the front door so long as fouls continue to be called the way they have been for the last few years. Jabril went from being the best defender in the BE to a liability in an offseason. Without the ability to handcheck on the perimeter to keep guards out of the lane, the use of a bunch of long, but slightly slower wings to lock down the perimeter has become a thing of the past. I don't know much about Lykes, but if he is an effective floor general, and quick enough to keep his man in front of him on defense, sign him up.

I understand the need for a big man with Hayes leaving, Marcus not being a true 5 but who may be able to fill in, and the uncertainty surrounding Agau. If Thompson, or for that matter, any spring signee, decides to come, does that mean we only have one available scholarship for '17? Am I reading the table correctly? If so, do we prefer Lykes or Jackson? Some have labeled Jackson our most important '17 recruit. Jackson, Pugh, Simms, Lykes. We seem to be on a lot of '17 kids.
