Well, back to Joe Hampton....I actually was pleasantly surprised at his skillset while watching that game. Had nice form and great touch on his jumper, and showed some nice post moves. But he is absolutely enormous, I'd guess he is easily 280+. However, he seemed to carry the weight well; very heavy but well distributed and not as jiggly/flabby as other heavy basketball players we've seen lately... As for our 2016 needs, he's got some talent but I'm not sure he's a fit. I'd prefer a true 5 in that class, since we'll only have one other on the roster. Yes, he's a little redundant with Derrickson already on the roster, but he seems to fit the mold of bigs that JTIII likes. Bingo. He's a bad body, and we have a better bad body coming in as part of the class before him. We didn't want Kris Jenkins, we don't want Joe Hampton.

I think that is a little unfair (assuming you are referring to Derrickson as the other bad body). Kid has definitely improved in that area and has lost a ton of weight and seems to carry his current weight very well. More than capable to defend at the 4.

Kids like Marcus are doomed from the start. He just has a bad body. Doesn't mean he's fat. Charles Barkley had a bad body when he played. Now, he has a bad body AND is fat.

I never used the word "fat", you did. Also its somewhat odd that you would say he's doomed and then provide as an example Barkley, an NBA HOFer and tremendous Power Forward. If thats the definition of doomed i will take it in a heartbeat.

When I said "doomed", I didn't mean "doomed to be a bad player", I meant "doomed to have a bad body", it's just genetics. But Derrickson is the exception, not the rule, and you can't fill your roster with bad bodied forwards.

POD, not sure what your point is. Are you saying that eventually MD will get out of shape? If so, maybe, but if he continues to work like he has, it won't happen in college so don't care. Or are you saying he has a bad body right now? If that's the case, you are clearly not up to date. Or are you one of those people that thinks because a player once was overweight, he always will be? Which is clearly wrong.

Yes, he's a little redundant with Derrickson already on the roster, but he seems to fit the mold of bigs that JTIII likes. This was my thought process also but after thinking on it some more, I hope the staff stays on him.. Hampton has the skill set needed for JT3's system, he can score at all 3 levels comfortably.. He also looked comfortable handling the ball on the perimeter .. It'd be fun to see what JT3 could do with truly interchangeable players.. A 2016 roster of 4/5 players like Agua, Derrickson, Mourning & Hampton to go along with. True 5 in Govan looks good to me.. Not to mention, who knows what the roster may look like at the end of next season or before this season even kicks off tbh.. I like the proactive approach.. The young man needs to get in better shape but he fits the profile of what the G'town system needs.. insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/on-the-trail/insider/post?id=13551Joe Hampton’s recruitment after decommitting One of the more intriguing players over the weekend was Joe Hampton, a big-bodied 6-foot-7 forward with a sweet stroke from the perimeter. Hampton hit seven 3-pointers in three games and seemed extremely comfortable stretching the defense and creating matchup problems for opponents. Hampton is also solid around the basket, but relied too much on the 3-point shot in the title game. Hampton decommitted from Penn State last month after making his pledge last summer, and his recruitment has picked up in the past few weeks. Virginia Tech offered shortly after Hampton reopened his recruitment, and he is visiting Georgetown, as Paul Biancardi reported over the weekend.

I think the other thing to remember is Hampton started out at DeMatha, correct? So he probably knows Fultz and could potentially help with that recruitment.
I like the kid and if he's getting big minutes as a junior for Oak Hill, he's doing something right. Continuing to solidify a relationship with that program can only be a good thing.

Looks like Monteverde had a dirty player that got caught trying to mess with Hampton:

Looks like Monteverde had a dirty player that got caught trying to mess with Hampton: That kid is Marcel Ponitka, he's terrible, there's no reason he should get playing time for Montverde. I figure he must have some sort of connection with Boyle.

Two predictions on 24/7 today for Hampton to GU. Seems strange.
