Funny, how I haven't ever received any complaints or negative criticism about my blog I dedicate to my deceased son and the Hoyas (fans as well). This is something I do from my heart for my team and fans, that's all. I'm not looking for any personal gain or anything. I love my team. Sorry if you're thinking otherwise. If anything, I've received nothing but praise from the school and some of our fans at games here in D.C. or away, even from some other teams fans. There's very valuable information for those who know and don't know the game of basketball and our team. Look, Skyhoya used to be a cool dude. We rode up to NY to a game, we've talked lots of times. All of sudden this dude changes for the worst. I don't know what in the heck happen to him. It's like he's Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde! LOL ... Was my spelling correct this time Skyhoya. I don't think my spelling was ever an issue, I received A's in spelling all during school. I might have a few words out here and there, but that's it. I've errors in all writings. I can say this though. I AM NOT PERFECT! “If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes.” - John Wooden GLIDE ? QUIT TRASHING ME ON THIS BOARD. You think that anyone who disagrees with you is a traitor to the program. You can’t take criticism without going to a rant for a couple of hours. You played the Jessie Jackson RACE CARD today, which is unforgivable for you to do that, just because I questioned your English. I realize that you have wrapped your life around the HOYAS, which is not a bad thing to do after you lost your son. The reason you sit behind the visitor’s bench with your free tickets, is because the paying customers complain about your language during the game. They did move you near me for a few games a couple of years ago and I was forced to call the office to get you moved. You might think you are the center of the Verizon universe. By the way, I am still kool, you just are such a big target to pick on. If you already believe this though and know how to push Glides buttons, then aren't you at the very least equally responsible for creating this situation? I mean it's like hard fouling Rick Mahorn or Charles Barkely on purpose knowing they will retaliate and get both players ejected. I think both of you need to tone it down. Escalating this situation will just not be a positive result for either of you. It's just not worth it. We're all Hoyas fans.

Is Lavin the worst coach in Div 1? I can't recall a St John's game where his team didn't look totally unprepared for us.

he used to be a good coach, then he went to TV This is false. He was never a good coach. That aside (I think my anti-Lavin bias is well known, so I won't dwell on it), DeAngelo Harrison scares the hell out of me. He has been absolutely awful against us throughout his time at St. John's. I hope we're in his head, but I fear that he's just way overdue for a huge game against us.

I typically don't believe in the whole "due" fallacy, but he has been absolutely dreadful against us. Even if he doesn't explode, an average Harrison can cause us problems. Stick Jabril on him and let him go to work.

St. Johns took a big one from us in 2011 at MSG. Lavin designed a play for Hardy to get a layup for the winning bucket with under a minute to go. When Lavin has talent and has them playing well they can be very good. That's what's happening right now. Nobody should count on a Lavin coaching debacle or Harrison to meltdown for the Hoyas to win. We're gonna need to play well to get this....

It's easy to get in Harrison's head. He seems a little more mature now but I would keep either Traws or Bowen on him and deny him good looks. He will get frustrated and meltdown. He's done it for the last 2 years. Lavin will have to watch for it and adjust, something he's not good at. That said this is a better Johnies team and they are hungry. It will be a close game and if we lose it won't be because of Harrison. But I say Hoyas win 63-61 on a last second 3 pointer by Markel.

Hoya blue still has a few student section (sec 113) tix that they're selling to alumni in NYC for $30/ticket. DoctorHoya, why don't I see 113 on the seating chart? I mean, other than because I'm a moron.

You know, I really do hope you are right. All I have been saying is that St. Johns is a much improved team since the last time we met. Marquette, I am not sure. At the doubleheader, Marquette looked to have regressed. The Johnnies looked about the same that day except that Harrison went off early. Since then, I haven't seen any of Quette but they seem like an abysmal offensive team in the halfcourt. They make St. John's look good in that regard on a bad day. The Johnnies, however, have figured out that they need to run all of the time and that Obekpa can score a bit. Sampson is a beast on D. I really like watching those two kids play. Almost as much as I hate watching Harrison play. As whiny as Harrison is, that's how hard-nosed and into it Obekpa and Sampson are. Gotta respect them for that even though they wear St. John's jerseys. Should be a tight game.

In defense of Glidehoya
I think the guy has done us all a huge favor over the years. Now, I don't know him personally or anything like that, but I do appreciate his commentary on this board and through his blog. Glide did get a little defensive at the attention drawn to his grammatical lapses by skyhoya. I have never believed that we prided ourselves on grammatical accuracy on this board. Even Admin seems to turn a blind eye or is indifferent to it. In addition, we all tend to get a little careless when it comes to proofing our posts. I am an English major and sometimes I glance back at what I have posted and go "Woe, I can't believe I didn't catch that." This board, as I see it, is spontaneous and on the fly. We all lead busy lives, etc. Some people, however, are anal about such things and it drives them crazy to see any miscues in writings. One of the things we have to avoid, however, is giving the appearance that grammatical miscues is somehow a racial thing. I think Glide took umbrage to this--not that Sky meant it. Whether he was making that linkage or not I do not know. Now I don't know about any other trashing of Sky, but he really seemed to get his dandruff raised yesterday. The way he went off was unwarranted and should have been dealt with offline. The fact that the two gentlemen have some differences stemming back to an earlier time, all I am saying--and, I think I hear others saying, is "Come on, guys, let's bury the hatchet and move on."
