The Red Storm(lol) is playing well, it will be a great atmosphere for a Saturday night game in the mecca. A win won't exactly garner national attention, but it would be a solid win, it would keep our streak going, which always gets a little extra attention, and it would keep us moving up the conference standings. Not necessarily a "must win", but pretty darned important. Game is Sunday night

Make no mistake about it; This is not just a big game. This is a make or break game for us. I know some will take issue with that statement, but I'll tell you why:
1. One, it comes at a critical time in league play.
2. Two, St. Johns is playing excellent bball right now, probably better than anyone in the conference.
3. Three, St. John will do everything in its power to come away with a win.
4. Simply put, the tradition factor
5. Finally, we win this game it would be 5 in a row. You can't argue with that kind of turn around success.

You can't argue with that kind of turn around success. Those are all reasons why it is a big game, a very important game. But to call it a "make or break" game is just silly. If we win, are we guaranteed an NCAA berth, or even a .500 record in conference? If we lose, are the season and all post-season hopes dashed permanently? I am pretty sure the answer to both of those is a resounding no. I will grant this much: We must beat St. Johns. But we must beat them because We Are Georgetown. And they are not. HOYA SAXA!

Boz, I can't believe you! According to your own words, you just agreed with me--indirectly, of course, that it is a make-or-break game. Yet you refer to my referring to it a make-or-break game as "silly." Per your post:
"Those are all reasons why it is a big game, a very important game."
"I will grant this much: We must beat St. Johns."
Did I miss something?
"We must beat St. Johns. But we must beat them because We Are Georgetown. And they are not." I don't even know what that means.
Come on, now, you and I know this is THE GAME for us. I would like to know what others think about this. If most on this board agree with you, then I will concede. If they agree with me, I'll let you decide your course of action.

Unfortunately, it's a Sunday, which might hurt the crowd a bit, but with President's Day the next day, I still think the crowd could be very strong.

Well, if that ain't Hoyatalk in a nutshell, right there. I agree that it is a big game. But is is A game. It is not SIX games. Very true. Still a big game though--lot easier to get 2-3 wins out of Seton Hall/@nova/Creighton/Xavier/@marquette than it is to win 3-4 of them (depending on if you think we need to go 10-8 or 9-9 in conference). I think your response has a lot of merit, not NOT worthy of the double post. HA

At this point a loss to either St. John's or Seton Hall could be devastating to our NCAA hopes whereas wins will probably just keep us treading water until the Marquette/Xavier/Creighton/Villanova stretch. So essentially we've got to not lose on Sunday, and winning is just a side benefit. I actually think we COULD lose to SJU provided that we beat MARQ, XAVIER, and either Creighton or better yet Nova. I think if SJ does beat us they will go on to be an ncaa tournament team and the loss will not be a bad loss..

Well, hell, The Mighty Glidehoya has just cast the only vote that matters. I concede, but not by much. This game to me is very, very important. By the way, Glide, was that you in the stands the other day catching Aaron Bowen?

Yes sir that was I..also, all our games are very, very important from start to finish, it's why we play this game to win. I hear folks saying a must win, very important...it's all the same..just let the boys play and let this thing play out IMO but I hear you...

Love it! When all is said and done we will look back at this upcoming game as the deciding factor. I know I said I had conceded the point, but I am convinced this is the game. Furthermore, Metropolitan Atlanta is shut down so I have a few extra moments to shoot the breeze.
Glidehoya certainly got a little bent out of shape, emotional, and defensive about the criticism of his blog. How dare that poster focus on the insignificant issue of grammar and lose sight of Glide's ideas?!

No, I get it. To me it was just a cop out and evasive, lazy response.

It's a HUGE game (to me). When the offseason rolls around, I want to still be able to lord this win over the Johnnies fan that I work with and will be seated next to at the game as I was able to do last year. Get em Hoyas!
