Okay time to stop celebrating(lol). Keep the good times rolling. Solid defense, strong rebounding, smart shots equal a winning streak.

The road back to .500 in conference starts here. Three winnable games: the bottom of the conference and Prov payback. They're also all Going to be dogfights. Just keep attacking.

Much tougher game than some would think. Quick travel after a Saturday afternoon win on national television against a highly ranked opponent for a game against an improved team. This will be a challenge.

Melvin got suspended and two other players are sick, I believe. We really need to take advantage of these breaks. We certainly have had our fair share of bad breaks already. If we can grab this one, the confidence will be great for the next two home games. I expect us to be 6-6. No excuses, boys!

Yesterday was a special win, but I'm glad there is a quick turnaround. Hopefully the January struggles have taught this team that they can lose to anyone, so they have to bring it every game. After getting the big upset yesterday, a lot of the things this team wants to achieve are still possible. They just have little margin for error and have to play with consistency. It was amazing seeing the front court perform against Mich. St., and I hope this is the sign of good things to come. Hopkins is scoring in double digits more frequently, and if he can get 10 points a game moving forward, shoot around 50%, and play solid defense that'd go a long way toward compensating for not having Smith in the lineup. Jabril was a great spark off the bench yesterday-- I wouldn't mind seeing him as the sixth man going forward. I remember him playing well against DePaul at Verizon, coming off the bench with a couple fouls and giving the team a spark to end the first half. Hope he can keep rolling Monday night. Plus, it'd be nice to see DSR start to find his stroke again-- we will need him going down the stretch.
This next week is pivotal, and I'm excited to watch the games. I hope we can get a win Monday night, pick up our first sweep of the year, and head back to Verizon with some momentum. Hoya Saxa!

Agree pivotal 3 games coming up. Neat thing this year is we get to play each of our conference teams twice. 6 and 3 gets us back to 500 and NIT, 7 and 2 and playing well in BET probably gets us to NCAA. Win one by one. Would prepare as if Melvin is playing, can't let down and be surprised if DePaul gets its star back. Still a little injury luck going our way would be a nice bonus after the many injuries our team has had this year.

When Nate poses even a small threat to score it changes the dynamic for the defense completely. Now they cannot sag and protect against the back cuts because he may take it to the hole.

I really think we would have a shot at the NCAA field if we ended up 9-9, especially if that included a win over Villanova or Creighton. We already have good wins against MSU, VCU, and Kansas State. While we also have some bad losses, bubble teams are usually pretty weak, and not many would have wins against teams like MSU. If we had 9-9 and could win a game at the BET or more, then I think the case would be even more compelling. Clearly, 7-2 is much safer, and would leave less doubt for the selection committee, but I don't think it's impossible to get there going 9-9. Of course, anything less than 9-9 and we would definitely need the Big East Tournament. We definitely have some winnable games come up here. We need to win these because it will only get harder.

I agree. I think 10-8 regular season record gets us in to the tournament pretty safely. I think 9-9 leaves us on the bubble but likely get in. Anything less and we have serious work to do in the BET.

Did the team even bother to come back to DC after the game in MSG? Seems like it would make sense to just stay in the NYC area for the weekend and make the short drive over to Newark for tonight's game. Edit: Duh. DePaul does not equal Seton Hall. Ignore please.

Seems like it would make sense to just stay in the NYC area for the weekend and make the short drive over to Newark for tonight's game. The team flew to Chicago after the game since the game is against DePaul in Rosemont. ...from the articles thread: www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/020214aaa.html
