I believe he re-injured his knee so was unable to try out for the D-League this year. Hopefully he is able to heal up and give it a go at some point.

That kid wasted a ton of talent. Really sad to see. We could've gone a long way in 2013 had he stayed on the straight and narrow

Whittington's academic and other shortcomings set the program back several years. It is too bad, but it is also time to move on. I hope that he gets healthy and makes something of his career. A healthy Greg Whittington certainly has the talent to play professional basketball somewhere.

Another thread that we've beaten to death over the years. Greg Whittington had the opportunity to "make it" at Georgetown, and could not do so. Ultimately he didn't for academically, and his injuries set him back in terms of basketball development.
It is a very small window of opportunity that is presented to athletes with professional dreams. I fear that Whittington's injury history may have slammed that window shut.

Ahh, the Legend of Greg Whittington. I can see our grandchildren on Hoyatalk about 30 years from now discussing this guy named Greg Whittington, who they heard was the Chuck Norris of basketball players. He apparently could dunk without jumping, but still dribble through the legs of six-foot opponents. I heard he scored 150 points in a single game. And that was in the first 10 minutes.

At the risk of this getting moved to College and Pro Sports (although he's part of neither) ... any news at all on Greg Whittington?
Search just turns up former GU-related articles, the Rutgers transfer possibility and his impending D-League debut (from late last year).
Hey, it's the summer, after all ...
