"Whittington was expected to provide depth and experience along the Scarlet Knights' front line next season as the program makes the move to the Big Ten Conference."
Meaning Whittington will be by far Rutgers best player as they march into the slaughter house of the big ten.

Anyone really surprised? I thought all along that visions of NBA money is what kept him from going to class. I'm sure JT3 thought the same thing.

We hope that Greg will get his life together. He is clearly not the player some on this board thought he was. He didn't have the focus and commitment it took to be a top college basketball player. Therefore, all the projections of him being a top NBA draft pick is way off target. There are plenty of 6'8" college players with talent and potential who never make it because of various reasons dealing with their mental makeup. The head controls the body.

Hope he turns it around too. His twitter had My Life with a thumbs down and a gun pointed next to it. Certainly has the talent to make it.

Agree . Don't know if he had NBA offense . But him, Otto, Traws , Henry, and Clark were fun to watch on D.

Agree . Don't know if he had NBA offense . But him, Otto, Traws , Henry, and Clark were fun to watch on D. With NBA-level defensive talent, all he really had to do to make it was to be coachable and to develop an NBA three. The former is attitude, the latter hard work. I'm not sure either is going to happen.

Glad we got rid of him when we did. There were some that were critical of III for letting him go but Whit was given every opportunity to right his ship.
At the same time, hope that Whit can turn his life around. It seems like he has people telling him he is better than he is at basketball and that's kind of gone to his head. He needs to surround himself with the right people if he's going to turn it around.

Turn his life around? Not sure his life is "bad" and in danger. How do we know? But again, I'm not in the know (on this issue), so maybe you all may know more than I do.

Good luck to Greg. And, rockhoya, what was the reason?

Good luck to Greg. And, rockhoya, what was the reason? Because, while some people on here like to dismiss his value, other people actually appreciate his abilities and realize that he has a set of unique tools that may enable him to become a player one day. I mean, to be surprised that people still keep tabs on him is to not realize what he can bring to the court. I've barely ever seen anyone with his size and length move so gracefully laterally and his defensive tools alone are a reason for him to get looks as a professional. If he improves/d his jumper at an Otto-like rate or anything similar, and tightens up his handle (which he did a lot of during his first year off), the sky may be the limit. If he consistently continues to work hard and keeps his priorities in order and accepts advice from the right people there is no reason he can't at least a Thabo-like impact. All I know is I appreciate the updates because he still has the potential to right the ship, despite all the naysayers.
