I have a feeling the Rangers are going to get steamrolled, but maybe not.
They really lucked into playing Montreal for a chance to go to the finals. The Habs were not nearly the outstanding team Boston made them look like (especially without Price).
This is one of those finals where I have virtually no rooting interest (I despised the Messier Rangers, but I have no dislike for this team). Just want to see a bunch more hockey before the World Cup gets going.
So hopefully I'm wrong and we'll get 6-7 great games.

Lundquist standing on his head would help.

Whatever the case, I think we can all be glad the NHL version of the Italian soccer team did not make the finals. (He said as he geared up to completely swallow any sense of self-respect and root for the Azzurri in Brazil.)

Sorry Boz....but yeah that is kinda obnoxious. Maybe "lame" is a better word if you are not rooting for them actually over the US. Not a big deal, just kinda "lame" like American soccer fans who wear soccer scarves in 80 degree heat or say "pitch" or "boots."
In my experience it is the Italian, Greek and Korean Americans who are the worst offenders of this. Glad to hear you wouldn't root for them over the US...have never met a Korean-American (all of whom were born here) who has ever told me they would root for the US over Korea if they met head to head.
Worse than this...I know Gtown students/alums from those obnoxious Notre Dame Irish-American families who had/have difficulty pulling for Gtown over ND to this day.

You haven't met obnoxious until you're at a party with Canadian ex-pats living in the US.
But that's OK.
We're NEVER GIVING THE CUP BACK TO YOU, HOSERS!!!

I'm not sure the Kings are going to know how to play with home ice advantage. I think we're likely to see at least six games. Go Kings.

After the way the Western Conference Finals ended, my affection for this Stanley Cup Final is at Duke-Syracuse levels. I normally watch every minute of the Finals I can, but I don't know if I'll manage any of it this year.

Boston, Chicago and Pittsburgh have all had the chance the last several years to establish their own dynasties (or as close an approximation of one as the NHL will allow).
Who would have thunk that it would be the Kings who would outshine them all?
Anyway, thanks for showing up Rangers. If it makes you feel any better, I doubt any other team in the East would have fared much better than you.
PS - The Penguins are Duke or Syracuse. The Kings? They're more Michigan State-ish, if you ask me.
(PPS - As long as we're talking comparisons: Sorry for saying this, Caps, but you're starting to get a very College Park-like aroma about you...)

I'd say the Blackhawks have an equal claim to best team of the past five seasons--they have 2 Cups, 1 conference finals appearance and 2 other playoff berths, which is the same resume the Kings have (and each has beat the other in the conference finals).

The Hawks and Kings are on par. Since 2009, both have (or will have) 2 Cups, both have been in 3 conference finals, and both have beat each other once on the way to the Cup. I don't know how you can pick one over the other.

Really good regular seasons followed by upsets early in the playoffs? Missed the playoffs this past season? As much as I really don't want to say it, I think you picked the wrong major college basketball program from the DC area to compare the Caps too.
