Michigan and Kansas ST are the latest to chk in on Ricky Council. A couple other guys that are below the radar but maybe shouldn’t be: 1st 6’3 CG Sammy Barnes-Thompkins Wether he’s a PG or SG he’s comfortable with the ball in his hands initiating offense.. Nice build and solid size plays in AZ and AAU with AZ Magic (Not exactly a powerhouse). He started out in NM, then went to Tuscon and finally ended up in Phx for his Junior Season. It’s easy to see how he could be under-recruited considering how none of those areas sans PHX gets any sort of attention from recruiters. Either way on the National stage he surprised many by finishing second at Pangos in scoring. Averaged 16.5 and about 4 assists. The tournament was loaded with top prospects and raised a lot of eyebrows. Kid can really shoot it and would have nice athleticism for a PG. Good handle and change of pace moves as well… Good bloodlines also his pops starred at Iowa ST so he grew up around the game. Staff might want to take a look kid is legit. Sammy finished 12/25fg (6/10 3fg) 10/11ft. also collected 11 rebounds and dished out 3 assists, All in 2nd half. What year is he yaboy?

Dusan Kovacevic
6’9/6’10 F out of Serbia also 2015
Probably the most intriguing prospect of the 3, this kid is getting a ton of buzz for his strong play. Came from Serbia and played at a small school in Ga called Ruben Gap. He played well but got 0 exposure. Decided to transfer to Sunrise Christian for his Junior season but broke his hand and eventually transferred back to Ruben Gap.
Was supposed to play AAU ball but ended up trying out for the Serbian National team and made it, so he spent the Summer touring with them. Since the season started he’s picked up offers from Texas Tech Ok State Davidson UNM and a couple other HM’s Mizzou Oregon and a few others have been sniffing. Allegedly plays a Point forward/Point Guard role for his HS team. Doubtful he could play PG at the HM level but it speaks to his versatility which of course we covet from our Bigs.
Played at a Phenom Hoops event recently and this is what the Scouts had to say:
Marcus Shockley @m_shockley Nov 9 Dusan Kovacevic (G, 6'10, '15) Rabun Gap- Unreal talent/size on perimeter. HM prospect with solid handle, shot, elite passer #PhenomJamboree
Rick Lewis @coach_Rick57 Nov 8 6'10 '15 Dusan @dusan7296 Kovacevic such an intriguing prospect. Typical European player. Highly skllled
James Blackburn @jamesjunior21 Nov 8 Winston-Salem, NC Dusan Kovacevic (6'10", 2015, Rabun Gap) was best player I saw today-IS A 6'10" PG- reminds me of Joe Ingles from Australia #PhenomJamboree
Marcus Shockley @m_shockley Nov 8 Dusan Kovacevic (G, 6'10, '15) Rabun Gap is a high major freak of nature. Yes he's a 6'10 point guard #PhenomJamboree
Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Nov 8 Dusan Kovacevic is out here working. One of the better remaining MM+ on up bigs available on East coast. Strong big who can shoot the 3
Some OLDER Highlights but do yourself a favor and FF to about 5min in. First 5 min are from his Soph season and are BLEH… 2nd 5 is from Junior season and shows a much better skill set. There’s not much vid out there on him tbh but staff might want to take a look...

We have to recruit this kid.. Been destroying the comp down in VA. Ranking is only going to rise, way undervalued.. St. Anne's-Belfield matched up with Collegiate last night at home in a Prep League tilt, and 2016 Javin Montgomery-DeLaurier put together yet another impressive state line, going for a triple-double (and a near quadruple-double) of 25 points, 10 rebounds, 10 steals, 7 blocks, and 4 assists. The performance included two monster dunks that are shown in the video above. We've harped on it a lot, but the guy may be the most improved player in Virginia since last high school season, and he seems to be getting even more athletic, too. - See more at: www.vantagehoops.com/news_article/show/457083?referrer_id=1102873#sthash.b2GHs8YP.dpuf

A 6-foot-2 guard, Dowtin made a couple three-pointers, but was also making shots off one and two dribble pull-ups. Prep Circuit @prepcircuit Dec 13 St. John's (DC) G Jeff Dowtin: 21 PTS (9-13 FG), 2 REB in a 73-71 win over Largo @ssmgt #NationalHSHoopsfest Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Dec 13 Not many more guys on East coast with one two pull up shot down than Jeff Dowtin. St Johns junior brings a confident approach to the floor Corey Pegram @coreypegram 24h24 hours ago Jeff Dowtin listed offers from the likes of Rice, Boston U & Winthrop. Academic kid who shoots it & reads the game. So much to like.

Averaging 22.6 points per game, he is a very good passer as well as shooter from deep and will often be seen bringing the ball up the floor. Sometimes he will even be seen taking smaller guards off of the bounce. Passing the ball is deep in this kids DNA.. That kid is fun to watch. www.vantagehoops.com/news_article/show/458281?referrer_id=1103687Terrence Phillips Impresses... Again He was very good in our last viewing down in North Carolina, and Phillips did it again on Saturday night, going for 12 points on 5-6 shooting, 8 assists, and just 2 turnovers. He got to the rim efficiently and effectively, he saw the floor well, and he played with good pace, but also at a more controlled speed it seemed. Phillips is rated the best available senior in Virginia, along with Kaleb Johnson, but his recruitment has been somewhat limited. Missouri and Loyola Marymount are the two most involved, and he is reportedly planning a visit to Loyola in January. - See more at: www.vantagehoops.com/news_article/show/458281?referrer_id=1103687#sthash.tHwQiVbD.dpufReally think Phillips is worth a look by the staff, the program needs ball handling plus back-court depth next season..

insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruitingon-the-trail/post/_/id/12543/cincinnatis-model-how-does-it-work"Don't recruit ... get."
It's the motto used by Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin and his coaching staff and almost an unofficial slogan for the way in which they approach recruiting.
"It essentially means that we don't want to talk about things that don't matter in the recruiting process and don't need to be one of those programs that recruits a ton of guys," assistant coach Darren Savino explained. "It's just a matter of finding out who fits and what we need to do to have the best chance to get them."
In other words, it's recruiting efficiency personified. Cincinnati isn't going to waste any time. They're not interested in making anyone's final list or being in the mix for a certain number of celebrated prospects, only in targeting prospects that fit their program and that they can realistically get. I can't stand Cronin but he's on point with this philosophy imo..

I can't stand Cronin but he's on point with this philosophy imo.. Makes sense to me. I can't imagine the money and manhours that are wasted in this - not only at GU, but throughout college ball. Seems like you might even be able to produce more on the court (better facilities, asst coaches pay, practice time, etc) with the resources saved. I'm always amazed when our coaches show up "in the building" somewhere. Sometimes it's gotta just be a team manager wearing a JT3 mask...

Cronin graduates no one so I guess he means he is looking for non-students who want a free pass on school and aren't top line recruits. I also have heard first hand of how he treated a recruit after he told him no thanks to Cincy as he went into a profanity laced tirade on the kid. I hear your point on Cronin's philosophy, but he is still a punk.

I don't think I really even know what Cronin means here. In the years we've cast a narrow net, we've ended up holding the bag and having to scramble to pick up unknown recruits at the end. The strong classes we've had these past two years is a function of us spending more time on the road. Plus, how do you decided if a prospect is someone you can "realistically get"? At the start of the recruiting process for Otto, no one thought he'd come to Georgetown; everyone expected a kid who'd never left Missouri to stay close to home. For every PJ Dozier, there's an LJ Peak that decides to sign up.

Did anyone watch the Cincinnati game last night? Nothing about Cronin should be emulated. The way he tried to stare down the ref at the end of regulation was pathetic and embarrassing. That guy is a clown.
