I won't have a full report on this weekend's games written up until some time on monday - but here are some brief highlights from today:
-Josh: did not play, as mentioned above -Starks and Lubick: both scored over 30 in a completely defense free game vs. Bobby Maze's team (former tennessee point guard). Maze scored a lot more than either Starks or Lubick (I think - did not track his points specifically). He may well have had over 40, he shot almost every time he touched the ball. DCX won, Markel pretty much took the game over in the second half.
-Domingo: hit a few shots late in the game, but overall another low-impact performance -Hayes: pretty solid game, double digits in points and boards
-Takeover had about 12 good players dressed (including Oladipo), so time was somewhat limited for Trawick and Hopkins. Hopkins is really falling in love with taking a rebound and dribbling right up court. He did it about 5 times today - scored a great end to end hoop once, had a nice assist on the move to trawick another time.
-Playoffs: Tombs, Takeover, A Wash and on Point are definitely playing on sunday. It sounded like Clyde did not make the playoffs (announcers were not real specific in mapping out tomorrow'g games!) Not sure about DCX. Sounded like they were not in heading into the final game on saturday, but I don't know if their saturday win put them in.
they announced that A Wash (Bowen) and on Point (moses, although he did not play the past two weeks) are playing the first game at 2pm on sunday. Not clear on the matchups/timing of the rest of the games.
All the numbers and more detailed thoughts on monday!

Adding on to what vv83 wrote about the schedule tomorrow, I'm pretty sure the announcer said the quarterfinals will be:
2:00 A.Wash Associates vs. On Point 3:20 Higher Level vs. Skills & Scrimmages 4:40 Team Takeover vs Premier Athlete 6:00 Tombs vs. Symonds All-Stars
As anyone who attends the Kenner League on a regular basis knows...The Schedule Is Always Subject To Change!!! The only that could be wrong with what I posted is DCX may have gotten in over Skills & Scrimmages or Symonds All-Stars since they won yesterday. So DCX could be playing Tombs or Higher Level tomorrow.

A Wash (Bowen) and Symonds (Caprio) are the only teams left in the playoffs with any hoyas. Bowen plays at noon on Saturday, Caprio plays in the second game.

SATURDAY GAME NOTES:
JOSH SMITH: did not play this weekend. He had a boot on when he came in the gym on saturday, he was not around on sunday
DSR: (22 pts, 3 boards, 3 assts, 2 st, 1 bl, 4 TOs) Another solid game. WIthout Josh in the lineup, DSR was more aggressive in seeking his own shot. 2-4 on 3's, good to see his outside shot coming around. Had a few sloppy turnovers early as he forced a few passes. Then he started hunting his own shot rather than trying to set others up, and his game came together. He is a decent passer, but DSR is wired as a shooter, not a point guard. He seems so much more comfortable when looking for his own shot. But his shot hunting did get the offense out of rhythm for a stretch in the 2nd half, allowing the other team to cut into a sizable Tombs leave. He did have some trouble finishing at the rim when challenged.
CAMERON: (16 pts, 4 reb, 4 asst, 1 st, 3 TO) Had some good moments in the post. Nice pass out of a double team, a bounce pass to a cutter in the lane for a layup; and a jump hook he converted. Both DSR and Cameron were beaten off the dribble pretty regularly defensively.
HAYES: (12 pts, 12 reb, 2 bl, 1 TO) 6 of the boards were on offense. Showed nice touch on a few converted jump hooks, one from some distance (7-8 feet?) Also hit a nice lefty jump hook. The game tempo got fast in the second half, and Hayes had few good offensive touches once things speeded up.
DOMINGO: (12pts, 6 reb, 2 asst, 6 TO) Unfortunately, he did not play nearly as well as this stat line. He hit a few threes late in the game to boost his point total. was 2-7 from 3, continuing his shooting struggles. he got muscled around a bit on defense. I was impressed that Domingo played very hard the entire game, despite the fact that you could see he was frustrated with his play. In the second half - the opposing D really pressured him whenever he got the ball, resulting in a bunch of turnovers. They were passive turnovers, when he seemed overwhelmed by the defensive pressure. On defense - Drew Washington (u. of Delaware) went after Domingo off the dribble repeatedly - muscling past him to create scoring opportunities. You could see that Washington (the Kenner version of a "cagey veteran" saw that Domingo was vulnerable, and went after him. I feel for Domingo - he is playing hard and trying to do the right things, but he just has not been able to really impact the game much this summer.
RIYAN WILLIAMS (19 pts, 4 reb, 1 asst, 2 bl, 3 TO) He is a very confident shooter, firing up 3's at almost every opportunity. He is a decent shooter (3-8 from 3). He is also fairly athletic, and a real hustler. He was pressured into multiple 2nd half turnovers vs. pressure D- but aggressive mistakes, trying to beat the pressure with the dribble/pass. Domingo's pressured turnovers were passive, getting the ball stripped or throwing a soft, bad backwards/sideways pass.
HOPKINS: (11 pts, 7 reb, 2 asst, 2 TO) All 11 in first half. He tends to have one big scoring/one low scoring half in many games. He does not play badly in the low scoring half, he just seems to be more involved/finish better in one half most games. he was very effective finishing inside. The most notable aspect of his game - at least 5 times, he pulled down a D board and headed right up court to start the break. He had one great coast to coast finish, another nice assist, and one turnover out of this move. He has been doing this a bit all summer. I tend to think that JTIII won't want hopkins initiating the transition offense this way - but he does show real good speed and some ball handling ability on this move. He really does run well, and has hustled running the court on every possession all summer.
TRAWICK: (10 pts, 5 rebs, 3 asst, 2 Bl) quieter game. Solid, but he played less (takeover had a whole bunch of players this weekend, many of them very good - Josh Hart, the Grant on Syracuse, Chris Braswell, Oladipo on saturday, etc.) Hart is a nice player. not as explosively athletic as I might have expected, but sound all around game. Unfortunately, the grant kid from Syracuse is talented. He impacted the game only sporadically, but he is athletic and can shoot, and has great length. Still very thin.
STARKS: (33 pts, 2 reb, 13 asst, 1 st, 2 TO). This was a wild game, both teams well over 100, virtually no team defense played. Both teams went up and down the court. Bobby Maze (former tenn. PG) had at least 40 (maybe close to 50). So the stats are skewed. that being said - markel attacked the rim mercilessly in the second half, scoring almost at will (Maze was doing the same thing on the other end). In the first half, he was passing more - often setting up nate for easy transition finishes.
LUBICK: (32 pts, 19 boards, 3 asst, 1 bl, 1 TO) Nate was great both running the court and scoring in the post against smaller defenders (no big men on the other team). he would have scored even more if he had not missed about 4 good post up shots at the rim in the first few minutes of the game.
That's it for saturday games. I'll write up the sunday games later today.

Correct, no Bowen or Moses on saturday. Bowen played friday - I was not there, but others reported he had a big game (20+)
