Do we have a decent shot with King, or should we be focusing on Pugh as our wing target for 2016? Not a great one but he and the staff keep showing interest. Really wish the Hoyas would recruit #3 on that list been talking about him since last summer when he wasn’t even in the top 10 on this list. Kid is going to be a really really good college player and is really under the radar nationally. Va Tech is probably recruiting him the hardest. Head to head he dominated Diakite and SKJ with ease… Athletic physical big with an outstanding motor. Can make shots from the perimeter as well when his feet are set and a great student. Start a thread on him and get B&G on the case.

Like a Nigel Hayes type, prob a bit bigger

Wow its like all top local recruits don't take Georgetown seriously anymore He's not really a local. Well how would you consider a local? I understand he is from Akron, Ohio and then transferred to Paul VI for basketball. But would you consider Allonzo Trier a local who played basketball at Montrose Catholic then transferred to Findlay and then picked Arizona? If a kid plays high school basketball around us he is a local. Look at UNLV, Ohio State, Florida who lock up all their targets from local schools. Either talented basketball players no longer want to play in the DMV, or we lost ground in recruiting the DMV region.

He went to a dmv school for one year. He went to 4 different high schools.

Just because he plays HS ball here (again for a year) doesn't make him a local. Neither does Trier. Derrickson is definitely a local. Not sure why you're trying to make it into an issue that local recruits don't give us the time of day because that's a bit misleading

He's no more local than Trier was. These young men who transfer in to a local HS for a season are simply imports. When I think local, I think of folk who grew up here. Do you think Marcus Derrickson's local? I know I do. And we have never truly had the DMV on lockdown recruiting-wise. How else do you explain college standouts like Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Carmelo Anthony, et al going elsewhere? You do realize such past and present national prep powerhouses like Oak Hill, Montrose Christian, etc. rarely had players who chose GU. And only recently have we been able to attract DeMatha kids. Syracuse, Indiana, even Villanova, among many others have been able to cherry pick our area. Fortunately, there's been more than enough quality talent available that we get ours.

Ok agreed on Trier and King. Derrickson would be a local in my definition as he played one year at Brewster but all others at PaulV, but I think what I am going for is why are they spurning us? Who recruits the DMV? Is it Sutton, not trying to point fingers more so trying to brainstorm for a possible solution to win over the local recruits. Hopefully showing our dominance against Maryland and us as the team to beat in the DMV will help us.

ESPN article today recapping Nike EYPL from the weekend had this:
V.J. King (No. 18 in the ESPN 60) appeared aloof during the spring evaluation period last year. However, what a difference a year makes as King, being pursued by Louisville, UConn and Georgetown, has improved his mid-range skills and his jump shot is a weapon.

Evan Daniels @evandaniels 25m25 minutes ago V.J. King has committed to Louisville, he tells @scoutrecruiting.
Evan Daniels @evandaniels 18m18 minutes ago V.J. King is a five-star prospect on Scout. High-level scorer at 6-6. Louisville's first pledge of the 2016 class.
