Lots. Govan comes to mind. Scroll down there's a bunch. The staff is no longer putting all it's eggs in one basket. They've learned their lesson. Not worried about how they're going about things anymore Govan is rated # 60 by Rivals in their latest update and I'm sure he'll be right around that for ESPN & Scout when they update their rankings.. Imo Govan doesn't answer Talos's question.. No doubt the staff is putting in work for these top kids but what are the chances that they land any of them? I think they are putting all their eggs in one basket and that basket is 2015, to me they're on a slippery slope right now..

Michael Bohlin @mbohlin247 16m #Hoyas head coach John Thompson III will visit ’15 five-star C Diamond Stone tomorrow. 247sports.com/Player/Diamond-Stone-20022 … @jerrymeyer247 Great to see we're still working on him, and great to see JTIII is on multiple highly ranked 2015 bigs. On the other hand, I would feel a lot better knowing we have backup plans if we miss out on the top tier of Rabb/Comanche/Skal/Stone/Dickerson. Does anyone know if there is mutual interest with some bigs maybe more in the 75-150 ranking area? Chris Silva, Ted Kapita, Horace Spencer, Develle Phillips, Ernest Aflakpui, Djery Baptiste, Trevor Manuel, Taron Oliver, Sylvester Ogbundu, Luis Santos etc… The thing is the top guys get way more coverage than the middle tier recruits. Over the summer more names will pop up but that’s solid work

I read about him on Verbal Commits 2015 center rankings page last week and I didn't see anything regarding G'town except that he was described as a Dwight Howard/Alonzo Mourning type.. He's the type of kid who should have at least been visited by the staff given the need at center.. We should start a thread on him, he looks like a beast.. The team needs more than one Big and I don't think kids like Spencer, Kapita or Silva qualify as centers..

If you look back to our previous classes there was a very clear option 1A-3 (all the same guy). We'd end up in the top 3 and get spurned then we wouldn't have a backup. The amount of top level guys we're in on now and that could commit today and we'd take them is much higher than in years past. We would kind of slow play our backup options a bit. Yaboy also brings up a good point that it's the higher level guys that get the most press so we don't hear about the lower ranked guys. As you can see from his list there are alot and I really see a change in strategy. Same thing can be seen with all our guard prospects as well. I also respectively disagree that they're just looking at 15. They brought in Lee to visit and would have definitely taken him and I'm sure you'll hear us mentioned with some decommits and 5th years if they're worth it. I agree we need center depth but there is 0 reason to bring in a project for 14 (unless it's Trey). I'm not going to pretend I have an idea of the inner workings of how the staff does things, but from an outside perspective I can definitely see a change the last two years. the 14 class was a product of this change and blueandgray has mentioned how they're well aware they need to follow up with another top 10 class

He enrolled at Prestonwood TX this year but couldn’t play, so not much new info on him other than he visited Texas A&M recently. I thought he said “Bigs” that’s why I listed Spencer but I think Kapita 6-9, 220 and Silva 6’9 210 could definitely play some Center. They would both have to put on weight but have solid frames and good athleticism. Depends on what role you’re asking them to play

In 2012 there was Noel of course but Tony Parker, Ochefu & Upshaw were heavily recruited also.. I guess I'm a hard marker and while I do give them some credit for trying, the bottom line is G'town hasn't landed a top 150 type big since Adams.. It's time to see some results.. With a Sr. DSR and the 2014/Derrickson class this program could be a monster in 2015 but it has a huge hole in the middle, I don't understand why the staff wouldn't want to hedge their bets by getting a kid in now so he can learn the system..

Just from the videos I've seen, Silva/Kapita/Spencer seem very similar: bouncy, athletic 4s who might be able to work some minutes at the 5. I may be in the minority here, but I think I'd prefer a guy like Spencer over Dickerson. Don't get me wrong, I'd very happy if we landed Dickerson but I'd prefer athletic upside and shotblocking ability in a prospect over a refined post game. Or, I could get greedy and hope we land Dickerson AND an athletic shotblocker! It really seems this staff is working extremely hard and getting the G'town name out there. Now comes the hard part...closing the deal.

A skilled 6'8" 255 lbs PF like Dickerson will own most college centers. I think we get too caught up on a few inches, when skill/athleticism are the most important ingredients (see current crop of frontcourt players). In addition, we have some nice size coming at the other positions. That said, I think a true C with Noah would be ideal.

I think that's probably true on offense, but height is a big deal on defense, especially with the new rules emphasis making it harder to guard on the perimeter.

I haven't seen enough of him to justify that statement Bigs"R"Us. If he has the motor then I stand corrected but his height will still be challenged on the defensive end of the court.

Dickerson did work against Giddens and others over the summer and held his own versus Cliff Alexander.. I think he'll be fine, much better than fine actually if he were to come to G'town.. Now he'll have an adjustment period like all 1st year players but his upside is high..

Ok but here’s the thing Teddy you are asking for a big in Delarosa who would arguably be worse on the defensive end than Dickerson. Dickerson is much more mobile and although he probably won’t be an intimidating shot blocking presence he probably does have the foot speed to guard some on the perimeter and in PnR situations. Although DLR is bigger/taller etc he’s still a slow footed below the rim player. It’s a stretch to say he would be a good defender much less a “rim protector"

Yes we need a Big, but one that can play. I haven’t seen enough either way to say, but a couple things. From the articles you linked above, against the 6’9 Soph that plays for Long Island Lutheran he scored 6 points. Against the Molloy team that doesn’t have a guy over 6’4 he scored 30. Coincidence? Maybe maybe not. I check on the ST Johns board and most have come around to wanting him in their program but there’s also plenty of people that say “No thx” This is coming from a fan base that has no top 100 players signed for next season. It doesn’t give me a lot of confidence.. The 2nd thing is he hasn’t taken his ACT?? Which means he has yet to qualify although it says he’s a good student. The staff definitely checked in on him a few times this year so I assume they did not like what they saw or there are other concerns that caused them to not pursue him. I haven’t seen enough to dictate either way but taking flyers on Bigs isn’t going to solve our problem and DLR is far from a can’t miss guy IMO...

Learning "the system" won't mean jack if you don't have a big guy who is capable of high quality play. Don't you guys get that by now? You are a like a bunch of dudes who want to marry the first gal that smiles at you. You go around on all the boards with your hair on fire while screaming for the coaches to take the first two-star (ok, maybe three-star)center who wants to commit to Gtown. Good grief we get it already. In case you haven't noticed when watching this current tournament if you land a talented big man in the 2015 class (top 100) he should be able to contribute immediately, even if he is only a frosh. It isn't about the amount of time under his belt, it is about his capabilities and talent. Besides with DSR around, the talented would-be sophomore class and hopefully one or more talented players to go along with the presumed big guy in the 2015 class, it isn't as if the Hoyas would need that big guy to put up anywhere between Mike Sweetney numbers and Henry Sims-like numbers. The big guy would simply need to be competent, able to hold his own, able to stay on the court without fouling out, get a decent amount of rebounds and hit over 50% of his shots. If he can do that who gives a ::bleep:: if he has mastered the system and knows how to throw a pass for a backdoor cut. If III cares more about that rather than all the other things I mentioned, then he is a fool. I don't think that is the case.

As noted by my previous post there's been quite a few misses on the big man front for this program over the past few recruiting seasons so excuse me if I'm not optimistic when it comes to your top 100 scenario.. Again G'town hasn't landed a top 150 center since Adams, that's just fact.. So yes, I am willing to give the chubby girl a chance.. Let's see here though... Kaminsky was a 3star kid Brimah & Nolan from Uconn were 3 star kids Yeagette was a 3 star kid Horton & Morgan from Michigan were 3 star kids Nastic from Stanford was a 3 star kid Ejm was a 3 star kid Van Treese & Mathaing were 3 star kids Akil Mitchell was a 3 star kid You've convinced me MCI why waste time on deadbeat 3 star kids, they very rarely amount to anything...
