Fran Fraschilla's Final Four draft club options for Markel:
1) Bayi Rockets 2) Anadolu Efes 3) The make-believe NERF team I created when I was 7 4) Georgetown Hoyas - Senior Season

GW is next up, maybe after next season. I think GW will def be there too, but I think the next to make a big splash might be Big Josh (I refuse to say Josh without Big until he's below 3 biscuits), if he gets himself in shape and can show the low post dominance his skill set should dictate. Would be awesome for GU if Big Josh & GW go 1st round in 2 years (can't see it for either after next year unless one of them just blows up -- next year's class is supposed to be loaded).

FWIW, to the poster that mentioned them, Markel is a better basketball player than MCW, Siva and Russ Smith. He's just doesn't have the wow factor that those dudes have at times. Kel has a much better shot at the NBA than Siva IMHO.

I don't think Siva has a shot.

Smith was a highly touted recruit and clearly has skill. My feeling is that going from Howland to John Thompson III will greatly improve his attitude, and likely provide him with better coaching, too. If he can get in shape, then I think Smith could make a pretty big impact, especially considering the big hole that we have now at Center. A lot of people think he has NBA talent - I think that he very well may have that type of talent, but I think it would be tough for him to make an NBA splash this coming spring given that he will only play 3 months, but I suppose you never know.

With Syracuse, UConn, Pitt, Cincy and Louisville out, Josh will have plenty of opportunities to look great in the new league.

The other league front runners for next year Marquette, Butler, Villanova are not known to have big athletic front courts, so Josh Smith or Hopper or Moses should be able to have their way in dominating the paint.

Classes end 12/6 and exams are over 12/19. I'm not sure which date is the one that he can play after. And we only played one game after exams ended this past winter.

I asked a friend who is more knowledgeable than me, and he said the rule is that he can play when the semester ends. That would seem to be the last day of finals, which would be 12/19. Either way, all of our marquee out of conference games will be without Josh Smith. The Puerto Rico games will definitely be before then, and unless the Kansas game is scheduled for late December (we did play Memphis twice around Dec. 22), he likely won't play in that game either.

It'll be good for the team to get a lot of experience playing with out him, since we can pretty much guarantee he's going to get in foul trouble in the BET or NCAAs because he's a big man, and refs don't like big men.

Markel Starks was the most consistent outside shooter all year especially as the season got closer to the Post-Season

Feel very stongly about Starks next year as a player and a leader on this team. Started learning how to drive to the basket this season. The presence of any kind of inside game on offense will make a tremendous difference for this kid. Give him more options for his outside shot or a drive and dish.
Also, do not sell Hopkins short. His problem this year was finishing and trying to force it too much. Given a year of maturity and the return of Greg Whittington, Hopkins may settle down more and play within himself. A slim Josh Smith who can stay in the game could make a difference and would present the Hoyas with an option of playing very big. Nate, Hopkins, Smith and Moses gives the Hoyas 4 players for two positions. That allows Whittington to move to the wing and play outside along with DSR, Starks, Trawick and Bowen. Of course 9 players are probably not going to see the court and I have left out Domingo and Cameron. Potentially could be a very deep team if the coach will use them.

(Or rather, he will a bit in the OOC, we will all get excited, and then by BE play, it'll be back down to 7 guys.

OCC rotation will max out at 8 tops which would include Bowen. I would not count on Domingo or Cameron seeing substantial playing time next year. Once the BE schedule hits in Jan. the rotation is usually set. Josh Smith at that point would be the only new comer getting playing time and how much playing time remains to be seen.
