Greg Whittington, Josh Smith have big impact for Georgetown from scout teamQUOTE:"I think this team would have progressed anyway," Thompson said at the Big East tournament last week. "I think we have just gotten better every week. I think that would have happened whether Greg's here or not. Like I said many times, you look at what we've done since he got hurt, and we're a better team with Greg Whittington on the court as opposed to being without him."
That said, the long-armed 6-foot-8 sophomore forward's ability to transform into the opposition's most dangerous scorer or defender has been an undeniable asset inside McDonough Gymnasium.
"He shouldn't be on the scout team," junior forward Nate Lubick said earlier in the year, a simple explanation for Whittington's impact.
Boxing out the 6-10, 305-pound Smith, who left UCLA six games into his junior season, also has toughened Lubick and sophomore forward Mikael Hopkins.

Per WAPO article, is there a Whittington injury in addition to the academic issue? JT III's quote says "since he got hurt...." I hadn't heard of one - perhaps he misspoke or was misquoted.

Florida Gulf Coast-Georgetown PreviewQUOTE:Thompson, who has three players 6-8 or taller in the starting lineup including Big East player of the year Otto Porter Jr., was asked about slowing down the Eagles.
"No one has figured out how to do that all year," he said. "They're outstanding, I think, at getting what they want, and as it relates to when they're on offense they spread you out, they have shooters and guys that can attack the basket and they pose problems. ... So on our defensive end, we are going to have to be very, very good."
