Trawick starts over White and Copeland because of his experience on defense and offensive schemes. Trawick starts over Bowen because of his handle. He does not have a great handle but is more reliable in breaking a press with the dribble. If Bowen had had a reliable handle when he got to DC he would have played a lot more minutes. He is a two dribble and sky player. Any more dribbing than that and he is a turnover risk. Trawick's 2.8 assists/game for a team that needs good ball distribution doesn't hurt either.

...would you give Bowen a look in the NBA?... He would have to do a lot of work overseas or in the NDBL to tighten up his game and get stronger. Never say never with a guy who is athletic I suppose.

...would you give Bowen a look in the NBA?... Not nearly a good enough ball handler imo.

...would you give Bowen a look in the NBA?... He's worked his way to a pro career overseas at least. He needs to improve his shot and defense to have a shot at the NBA.

Gotcha... I can think of at least a dozen players who can't shoot but can defend and get to the rim in the NBA; however i guess it only takes one coach/gm to see potential. He's not "raw athletic" he's get some good instincts.

Hey, if he keeps scoring 20 ppg off of the bench, he'll be starting for the Knicks next season.

I would. I would also want to see him develop more as a defender.

He's not "raw athletic" he's get some good instincts. He's not a lockdown defender yet. He attacks the passing lanes to get steals for the fast break but oftentimes loses his man and leaves them open for wide open perimeter shots or layups. If he had Jabril's lockdown aggressive defense to go along with what he has right now he'd have a shot but his defense needs alot of work for the NBA level.

NBA talk aside what a boost he was today/has been. Proud of the kid! Really nice that along with the freshmen and a more composed/better shooting Bowen we have the athletes to compete with anyone.

Must give him credit a great second half his best showing yet. one of the best halfs of any hoya in a long time, both scoring and defense. but this nba talk is the funniest i have ever heard. maybe after a couple of hundred hours learning and developing a handle with just one of his hands and making a simple bounce pass he might have a shot. He can run and jump with anyone in the league but i still think there is a little bit more to the game.

While there's a lot of luck involved, as long as you have the right tools and discipline to work on your weaknesses you might find someone to give you a shot. Not saying Aaron is near that level yet, but he is a competitor and what you mentioned (hundred hours learning and developing a handle, etc.) is not out of the realm of possibility. Some players just start going to work after their last game because they know their window is closing. Again, I'm not saying Aaron is there yet, but making the jump to the pros isn't purely based off of production, there are many other variables and that's just the reality.

I don't think that there is a groundswell of thought that Aaron Bowen is a surefire NBA player on the basis of his performance over the past three years, plus this season to date. That being written, how many of us really thought that Henry Sims would be in the NBA, let alone starting (albeit for the 76ers)?
It could happen. It may happen. But it also might not happen. We can't say for sure.

Aaron has played pretty well the last few games -- I love to see it. He's become a super valuable player -- he converts at the rim, is reasonably dangerous behind the line, generates a couple of one man fast breaks a game and brings a ton of energy. Just a wonderful complementary player and may be a reason we go far this year. We've got a big man, a perimeter shooter and now we've got the garbage guy.

Stats vs Indiana Hoosiers
35 mins., 22pts,. 10/13 FG's, 1/3 3pt. FG's, 4 rebs, 2 assts, 2 stls.
Aaron Bowen's 3rd straight game with at least 4 rebs.
Between Aaron Bowen and DSR, these 2 players scored 51 of the Hoyas 91 pts in a much needed out of conference win.
A player once considered an after thought by some posters behind whom ever was the new sharp shooting recruit has transformed himself (based on the match-up) into the 1st, 2nd or 3rd best scorer on this team.
I like to see under dogs rise to the top. Aaron Bowen appears to have finally earned JTIII's trust to earn major minutes and to play while the game is on the line during the final minute.
Numbers up this season include: 67% FG, 55% 3pt FG, 1.2 Assts per game, 1.1 stls per game, despite playing less mins this season at 17.5 mins per game avg.
Glad to see a career come full circle from riding the bench to a major all-around contributor and the appreciation from other posters.
Final note: Purplefilms, how have you been enjoying Aaron Bowen's final season at the hill-top?

Stats vs Marquette
23 Mins, 11pts, 5/8 FG's, 2 Asst, 1 Stl
Despite the injury, this was a solid effort in a game which saw 2 starters injured in the opening minutes of the 1st half.

hope ab i s aok NEED him to sky and go to the hoop yup TO THE HOOP Lic - just a thought: unless you have something meaningful to say or of value to add to a particular thread, really no need to post the same thing at the end of every thread on the first page one after another in a 5 minute stretch. Like you, my posts also often add very little value to the discussions, but I that is why I try to limit them (450 in 17 years).
