Plays for my alma mater. (lichoya also went to Fairfield Prep, and we know how he feels about seven-footers.) Haven't seen him play, but Kevin Ollie has been to a couple of his games, per the local paper.. He's averaging a double-double. Prep is ranked #2 in the state, but lost by double digits to #1 Hillhouse tonight. Hillhouse's starting center is around 6'7". Chucku had 4 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 blocks.
That's a long way of saying "I don't know much about this kid, but I saw the name of my high school and felt obligated to respond." A bit of a hifi moment.

I heard a rumor that he slipped (condensation? banana?) off the Bataan during halftime and hasn't been seen since....

That's what this program has been missing. A tall C named Pascal.

Quick scan of internet reveals that kid can run floor, has soft hands and has a 90 inch wingspan.
Why not get involved here?

Quick scan of internet reveals that 9/11 never happened, I can enlarge my ___ for the low, low price of $9.95, a beautiful young blonde wants to be my "friend" and there is $1 million for me in a Nigerian bank account if I just provide my credit card information. Just kidding with you - I am tainted by our previous Pascal experience.

This is his first year at Fairfield Prep. Spent last year at Trinity Catholic in Stamford, CT (UConn's Rashamel Jones, Craig Austrie, Duke's Dave McClure) where he spent his freshman year with not much playing time. He's offensively raw (still) but an athlete with a lot of potential as a college shot-blocker. Very skinny, but can get up and down the floor. That's why Kevin Ollie has been at his last 2 home games.

Saw on TV last night the 1/15 game against Hillhouse, CT's top team. Prep, ranked 2, hosted. Prep lost by 15, 59-44, in a battle of unbeatens. Chukwu didn't show anything offensively (1 FG, 2-3 FT), but had 10 rebounds and 9 blocks against an athletic team. While he showed little offensive polish -- the FG was a nice putback slam -- he is long and athletic. He ran the floor really well and was a good help defender. He also recovered quickly. He is definitely an impact shot blocker. He also altered a lot of shots and impressed me by going straight up and not fouling on the follow-through. If Moses impressed Big John from a shot-blocking standpoint, he should check this guy out. Kevin Ollie was there as reported earlier.

I'm glad lic found this thread. A seven-footer from Fairfield Prep sounds like his dream recruit. I was wondering what was taking him so long to get here.

Cooley would have been better served spending the time scouting Cincinnati. If he keeps up his mediocre pace at Providence, there should be no guarantee that he'll be around to coach a class of 2014 recruit.

Protip : If you want to turn around your struggling program, recruiting helps. Cooley is doing a pretty good job and I don't think he's anywhere close to the hot seat.

Remember how excited we were to go 9-9 in the Big East in 2004-2005? I'm actually pretty excited for Providence, considering that they are losing only one senior and will be returning their top 3 scorers. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make the tournament next year.

Don't forget Ricky Ledo sitting on the bench. If he stays, that's a tournament team. With the job Cooley is doing, I think they're a dark horse pick among the bottom of the Big East to become a legit program. Would rather have SJU get there just because of the NYC market, but would help a lot if Provy gets to be a factor more often than not.
