Congrats to this young man! Expect a jump in his rankings via ESPN and Rivals. Should be a top 25 prospect soon Really think top 25? He has had much better numbers than centers who are ranked above him in the tournament currently. Really maturing into his 6'10'' frame as he grew 2 inches over last year... I think his upside is incredible. And as someone mentioned earlier his game against Gonzaga earlier this season was insane.

Great news. Wonder if It caught the staff off guard... No. Staff was looking for an early commit from a big and didn't want to be in a position of losing out at the end again. It was going to go to whoever popped first....in this case it was Govan. Comanche recruitment could go till next Spring, and who really knows about Rabb, but if he wants to come, he still can. He meant if the timing caught them off guard (as in in such quick succession.

Bring in Crawford and one of Trier/Reaves and we have a top 100 kid in every position for 2015. That would be just incredible.
Rabb/Labisserie/Comanche would be great too, but the focus has to be on guards now. If one of those guys wants to come to the Hilltop, I'm sure we find a scholarship somewhere.
Love what the staff is doing. Recognized that they were shooting for the stars too much, and now are looking at getting in early on risers. While it would be nice if we could have the pick of the litter like UA, UCLA, Duke, Kansas, UK, UNC, the fact is we simply don't have that rep. But of the remaining schools, we are clearly one of the hottest destinations. And frankly, I'm not sold on the one and done types anyways.
Very excited for the next few years.

Reaves, Trier, Bacon (in the footsteps of LJ), and Skal should really be our priorities going forward. All we have to do is convince him to see more of the country than just Memphis and have Rabb or someone scare him off of UK

"“What made him choose them now was him, his parents and everybody was sold on their development and the history of the big guys, the centers they’ve had in the history of the program,” Dingle told SNY.tv by phone. “They were pretty much sold on that and it was hard to overlook." zagsblog.com/georgetown/jessie-govan-to-georgetown/Have to think that JTIII going out to Indiana and Roy breaking out of his slump on national TV last week had a huge impact on the speed of his decision.

www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24560489/breakdown-four-star-center-jessie-govan-commits-to-georgetown?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitterHow he fits at Georgetown: In terms of pure back-to-the-basket scoring ability, there aren't too many better than Govan in the class of 2015. He gets good position near the rim, and knows how to score once he gets the ball. Govan has decent touch on his jump hook, although developing a consistent face-up game could help in Georgetown's offense. He's cementing his standing as one of the best low-post players in the class on the EYBL circuit, putting up consistent scoring numbers inside the paint. A post scorer will be much needed for Georgetown in the 2015-16 season, and John Thompson III is stockpiling frontcourt weapons in the class of 2015. Isaac Copeland and Paul White are frontcourt prospects entering school this season, although neither play is as effective a back-to-the-basket scorer as Govan. What it means for Georgetown's class: It's not exactly Hoya Paranoia again, but Thompson will have a loaded frontcourt in a couple of years. Mikael Hopkins and Josh Smith are expected to be gone by then, but Copeland and White return – while JT3 also brings in potentially the best group of freshman frontcourt players. In addition to Govan, Georgetown already has commitments from Noah Dickerson and Marcus Derrickson. Dickerson is another low-post scorer, while Derrickson could play multiple positions on the frontline. Georgetown hasn't had a go-to scorer at the center position in a few years, but the Hoyas will have their pick in 2015-16. With the frontcourt essentially set, JT3 can focus more on the backcourt for the rest of the class. Tre Campbell and L.J. Peak are heading to Washington D.C. in the fall, but there are plenty of perimeter targets. New England guard Terance Mann has been coveted for a couple of years, while Alonzo Trier has played himself into the top 25 nationally.

Yeah the twitter chat on the commitment shows that alot of the heavy hitters were coming in because of his performance at EYBL. I just saw a tweet where Coach K watched his last game there personally.

From Rivals:
Currently ranked No. 60, Govan will be making a move up the rankings and Dana Dingle of the Lightning said it was the Hoyas experience in developing big men and relative proximity to home that sold Govan on ending his recruitment.

From Insider:
Somewhat favorable comparison to the #1 recruit in 2014? I won't say no to that.

A year ago he went to Nevada's high school so I think we should thank Nevada's karma for bringing this about. High fives to Mr. Govan. Looking forward to cheering you on as a Hoya big man.

Dickerson, Derrickson, and Govan for 2015. That is a lot of beef up front. I can't help but see the influence of JT2. I can hear him telling JTIII, "son you tried it your way, now listen to your ol pops, and get your some beef up front" with these three there will be a return to a lot of back to the basket plays run by the Hoya offense. This does not mean that the Princeton principles will not be the main focus, but when it is not running on all cylinders, these three guys present a very good back to the basket offense to fall back on. Which in turn will allow the likes of White, Copeland, Cameron, and Peak to roam the 3pt line with a little less defense attached. JTIII is now equipped with both the beef and the gazelles to Finaly create the "Princeton on Steroids" we have all been waiting for. Let's do it JTIII.

www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/index.ssf/2014/05/syracuse_recruiting_target_picks_georgetown.htmlA Syracuse recruiting target from the Class of 2015 has decided to attend Georgetown. Jessie Govan, a 6-foot-10 center out of Wings Academy, announced on Tuesday that he had picked Georgetown. Govan also had offers from Syracuse, Connecticut, Louisville and Seton Hall among others. Syracuse only recently extended an offer to Govan. The emerging center, rated No. 66 in his class, had an outstanding weekend at the Nike EYBL tournament in Sacramento, Calif., in April. Syracuse's offer came after that event.

Comanche recruitment could go till next Spring, and who really knows about Rabb, but if he wants to come, he still can. So Dickerson must have been a given to the staff right Blue? I know I felt that way, if Dickerson went elsewhere that would have stung badly.. Can't express enough how happy I am with the latest recruiting news.. I consider myself a hard marker when it comes to recruiting and the staff has far & away exceeded my expectations.. Broadus, Hardy & Sutton deserve all the accolades given to them but I have to give JT3 a big hand also.. Now reel in Trier & Mann or Reaves & Mann and you'll see me making my 1st visit to a Kenner league game next summer.. Dickerson was down to two schools for the last several months (the Hoyas and Duke). He got tired of waiting on Duke, understood that commitments were imminent for the Hoyas (egbunu/govan) and made his decision. The staff was confident but it wasn't like it was a sure thing. This all worked out for the best. Govan has great upside and we have waves of frontline players that can present problems for opposing teams in any number of ways. What I like most is how selective we can be with our last two schollies. We are looking at a class with 5 top 100 players and a possible top 5 '15 class.

Looks like the Scholly crunch had a factor also.. Dickerson’s commitment, Dingle said, triggered Govan’s pledge at this stage.
“They had a kid commit, so they really only had one scholarship,” Dingle said. “So once that is taken, then they’re out of the mix….It was like, is it worth waiting?
“Everybody felt it was the best situation for him, so he might as well just go ahead and commit. It’s not like he’s taking a huge risk with the history that they have.” As for what Govan will bring to Georgetown, Dingle said, “He brings a low-post skilled big man that can score and rebound and is a true center.”

Huge! Great grab for the staff, they've been killing it this recruiting season. 2 more scholarships (3 if Mourning walks on) and a ton of quality prospects available!
