I don't care how skilled he is, can he be mean, dunk on people and clean the glass. Tired of soft cats and guys we leave on the bench cause they can't pass. Put their asses in and see what they can do. Agreed. We need some toughness and physicality to complement the athleticism of the 2014 class.

Reads more of a true 5 to me. Needs to get a little stronger, but once he does, could be a beast.

Oh, no doubt. That should have been the plan all along. Which is why we need available scholarships and not bring in a dozen guys in the 2014 class.

it's important to have a viable backup, not just a dude who collects fouls.

That is very good to hear. Size and mean will help this team immensely.

Nevada, since he goes to your high school, use your karma to make sure he becomes a Hoya.

Here is ESPN's two cents - they have him at 6'10" 263
ESPN Analyst Updated 03/03/2014
Strengths: He's an outstanding prospect at the center position because of the wealth of tools which he has to work with moving forward. Physically, he has good size, a natural strong build, and fairly long arms. He runs the floor fine for a guy his size and a nice soft touch both inside the paint and gradually extending away from the rim. His fundamental footwork is good and he has early signs of a potential go to move with his back to the basket in a jump hook over his left shoulder. Defensively, he'll contest shots around the rim and should also be a valuable post defender.
Weaknesses: He needs to develop a bit of a nasty streak. While some inconsistencies in his motor aren't a total surprise for his age and size, his lack of assertiveness around the rim is more of a long-term concern. He's not as good of a finisher around the rim as he should be, needs to strengthen (not necessarily soften) his hands, and also become more aggressive when looking to establish post position so he can make quicker, and more decisive moves, instead of over-dribbling.
Bottom Line: He's a highly talented young big man and true center who is making steady and consistent strides to his game and shows no reason to expect anything else moving forward, which should only solidify his status as one of the top centers in the 2015 class.

www.givengobasketball.com/i-m-backMy junior season at Wings Academy sadly came to a close and we came up short, losing in the quarterfinals. It was a tough loss, we lost by 1 point, but I know I have to keep working. I still have an AAU season to play and another high school season next year. We played well this season though, finishing 27-4. I averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks, so hopefully next year I can improve on those numbers even more. Recently I just picked up an offer from Georgetown University. Their assistant coach Tavaras Hardy came up to watch me play one game and offered after. Georgetown is a great, winning school and they have a long history of great bigs that have come out of there. To have them offer me is an honor.

I like the sound of this kid! 6'10, wide body, rebounds, and has respect for the history of our program.
Matter of curiosity: Who was the last NY guy we brought in? Jesse Sapp?

Nevada, since he goes to your high school, use your karma to make sure he becomes a Hoya. Ed, he bailed on my HS. I am sure the NCAA would not appreciate my karma.

www.stateoftheu.com/2014/4/2/5566354/this-hoops-big-man-has-wings-will-he-land-in-miamiSOTU: What other schools have offered you? What schools are you considering besides Miami? JG: Arizona, UConn, Seton Hall, Louisville, Georgetown, Cincinnati, and Virginia have also offered me. I'm open to all schools right now, just trying to enjoy the recruitment process. SOTU: Do you plan to visit Miami, and if so, when? Have you taken any other visits, or do you plan to? Where to? JG: I do plan to try and get down to Miami, I don't know when as of yet. I have taken visits to UConn and Seton Hall, and I might take a visit to Georgetown soon. SOTU: Tell us a bit about your thought process. When do you plan to cut your list down? When do you plan to take visits, and to where? JG: I will probably cut my list down at the end of this AAU season, and from there I will plan my visits. SOTU: When do you intend to announce your college choice? JG: I plan to announce my senior year, maybe before the season or maybe after, just at a point where I feel definite about my choice.

ryang is not impressed. Let's close the books on this one. Definitely not worth pursuing, esp. with all those 5s we have lined up.
