Note that some of the goals are set really aggressively and others are not--the goal for crew, e.g., is 500k which is very high, while track is pretty modest at @ 100k given all the money & resources that the university allocates to track(ex a track of course).

I'm pretty sure the track goal was $120k. In any case... Men's Track and Field Roster for 2011-12: 43 people Women's Track and Field Roster for 2011-12: 29 people Total: 72 Men's Crew Roster for 2011-12: 103 people Women's Rowing Roster for 2011-12: 52 people Total: 155 Insofar as former student-athletes (and their parents) comprise a major part of team donations, in addition to the fact that crew tends to draw athletes from a much wealthier population, I'd say those two different goals sound about right.

understand what you are saying, though the univ provides a much higher level of support to the track athletes than it does to the crew + 500k giving for crew would be well above what alums with comparable programs provide(dartmouth and cornell e.g alums support crew in @ 300k--very similar to gtwn, with columbia a bit less--arguably those univ's also invest a lot more in those programs--500k giving is a worthy goal, but would probably be more in line w/ Harvard -Yale type annual giving for the sport.

Yikes! I have to think that Kerwick was all set to be the successor to Diamond Dave (Trademark FLHoya) until that happened. Granted, this season and that game against Notre Dame in particular was liable to make any man hit the bottle, but you can't get behind the wheel afterward... This was certainly an unexpected and unpleasant development, but hopefully one from which the program and the university can emerge stronger. Let's hope for another visionary hire!
