What else is new when it comes to accusations or allegations.... Blame the victim!
Hard to blame the victim when there is none.
"I was wondering what was keeping this thread alive. That it is a discussion of what they call a famous defensive system and how and why hifi was banned from various football boards is not surprising in the least." -jgalt
Silver lining: semi-decent shirt idea/theme for industrious members of the student section this season.
"they are calling him "beavis" vasquez on their board and have been Editeding and moaning about him all summer. it makes me chuckle. i told them a g-town education should require a more creative nickname than "beavis"." -TerpSportsReport.com Message Board

I mean the fact that this mom contacted the "NEWS" about this is absurd. If her kid was her first concern wh would she want him broadcast all over the local news? So ridiculous. The fact that she somehow tried to turn this into a singling out and abuse is just insane. Wonder how much money she's going to want from GU....

Yeah seems the embarrassment from being on the news would be a lot more than any embarrassment suffered at the camp.
And good on GU for not giving in. This is not an issue to be hashed out in front of a camera. Be an adult and approach the staff on your own, dont ask some reporter to be your shield.

This is another part of the problem. That we are so quick to call every single moment of discomfort an act of victimization.
Is he a victim if they tell him his Jump Shot is bad?
Id he a victim if they try to tell him to tie his shoes like a big kid?
Is his mom gonna come calling the first time a girl calls him ugly and says he's a nerd that she doesn't want to go out with?
Let the kid grow up. Life is not always gonna go your way. Learn to deal with that and the fact that everyone is not going to be your "bestie" This is ridiculous

I blame WJLA for giving this woman a forum. Georgetown's statement -- where they stated that the contacted child protective services -- should have killed this story. It never should have gone on air.

My daughter told me that every GIRLS VB camp she ever went to did the same thing. Wear a T shirt from another school and they made you turn it inside out. Big girls, little girls, every girl. Given that these kids go through 2 or 3 T shirts a day with the workouts they do most get a chance to wear a T shirt inside out a couple of times per camp - even if they get a new T shirt when they get to the GU camp or any other camp.
"Coach Thompson called it the Georgetown Matrix," Lubick said. "If you take basketball out of the equation, you've still got one of the best academic schools in the country. If you take out the academics, you've still got one of the top basketball programs. And if you take both out of the equation, you're still right in Washington, D.C. - the most powerful city in the country."
