Otto at LeBron academy in LV through this Monday, where, apparently, he is tearing it up. Hate to say it, but given the evaluations and scouts in attendance, will be surprised if this isn't his last year at GU. Let's not forget that Porter didn't even make the Big East all-freshman team and shot 22.6% from three point range. No first round pick at forward or guard can get away with that statistic. Unless Otto wants to follow in Hollis Thompson's shoes, his game needs to step up considerably to be in the top 20 nationally (which is the approximate number of American players that will be in next year's first round.) The second overall pick in this year's draft was a small forward that shot 25.5% from behind the arc and shot worse overall than Otto did.

Exactly, plus that 22% of his 3s came at important parts of games usually let us not forget. If you have instincts on top of skill, you're in good shape if all measurables are ideal.... Otto is honing his skills, his instincts are exceptional and he's 6'8"....

DSR, Starks and Whittington were all awfully impressive this weekend. If one of them is forced to come off the bench, we are in pretty good shape.
Trawick got numbers but I haven't seen anything different from last year (i.e., head down and bullying his way to the basket). Hasn't showcased an improved jump shot, handle, or willingness to pass the ball. Have to love his will to win though.

DSR was so good that I want Markel on the B-squad
Also - has anybody ever sensed that Jabril and Markel don't like each other? Definitely got that feeling today when those 2 were playing against/guarding each other

I think Jabril doesn't like most people when he plays them. I've always thought he gives off that kinda vibe against everyone.

Interesting guest appearance today for "Can't Be Stop" against Tombs in the second game: Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. I was wondering who the grey haired guy was until he drained a three and announcer identified him as "Arne Duncan from Harvard" (where he was co-captain). Showed a pretty decent game for a 48 year old especially -- about 8 points, directed the D, and was surprisingly aggressive around the hoop. He and KIlkenny-Diaw (also guesting for Can't Be Stop) made quite the savvy pair! Don't know if the Secretary's appearance was just a "one off" or will be a regular thing, but certainly should add to the lore of the Kenner...

All Hoyas played well the whole weekend Starks has stepped his game up he was matched against the tough Jabril Trawick ... neither could really guard each other Bril was too strong for Starks and Starks was too quick for Jabril ... wow I loved the matched it's going to make the both of them better ... Hopkins is a man out there ...Devauntes is a pro hands down...Bolden he's a tough customer and will only get better...good rebounder and great put back guy...he's a project but it shouldn't take long...The walk and Caprio are very good and had a good game ... Big Moses looking good with the jump hook and especially rebounding...Whittington is a man out there also he's never satisfield lol ... he and Jonathan Wallace jawing jawing jawing ... I know this is Hoyaland but Lawrence "Poetry in Motion" Moten from Syracuse wowzers...he sure hit a game winner against Chris Wrights team today and it was hit only shot of the game, he was playing great defense... Chris just played down at The Goodman League looked pretty good but his team lost White Chocolate's team it was a great game ... This Hoyas team will be a dandy I'm pretty sure...

Yeah, watching Jabril today I was thinking he's the kind of guy I absolutely would hate if he played for another team. Very high perceived negativity to joy ratio. But he seems like a good guy off the court and showed last year that he can contribute.
I was also thinking that Austin looks fitter and smoother than I remember.
And, yes, DSR did seem as good as advertised, better really. [Insert disclaimer that it's only Kenner here.] He seems to be able to do a bit of everything, including hustle D. It's going to be hard to keep him off the floor if first impression turns out to be real.

I don't think anyone went last night with only Aaron Bowen playing in a game that started at 8:50 at night. I'm sure there will be reports from today and tomorrow's games. not from me but i'm sure plenty will go and share their thoughts. Check that I was there ... he could have played better he's picking steam slowly but surely ...

I have been away from board for some time. I have read Kenner comments hoping to hear some news about Tyler Adams. Has there been any news on his health and ability to play this fall?

The fact that he does not seem to be playing Kenner League, based on the fact that he was not a part of the school's press release is not a great sign for him to be playing in the future. But who knows if the school will ever announce anything.
