Kenner League is Just around the corner. What II am looking to hear about the team which will correlate is to success for next year,
1) Nate has improved his offensive skill set. We don't need Nate to.be a 20 pgm scorer but he does need to be a threat on the offensive side. He needs a nice 15 ft jump shot and and 2 back to the basket moves. He can not the man guarding him sag in the paint or not work on defense this year.
2) The condition of DSR knee is ok.
3) Greg gained about 10 lbs.
4) Our big men are passing the ball effectively and getting assists in the games.
5) Jabril in knocking down his 3pt shots. 6) Markel is getting to the basket.
My predction for the starting 5
1) Markel 2) Greg 3) Otto 4) Nate 5) This spot is wide open. I think it will be between Tyler and Mikael. Leaning toward Mikeal because I think he is a better passer. They key to the offense is how effectively our big men can pass.
Bench Jabril, DSR and Tyler. I think Moses is going to be the odd man out.

4) Our big men are passing the ball effectively and getting assists in the games. Don't care a whoot if the big men are racking up assists. Care more about if they can rebound and score off of post moves. Of course that probably makes me the anti-JT III. Anyway I don't recall people claiming Henry was a passing fiend last summer during the KL but he still managed to do extremely well on that front during his senior season. What is "knocking down"? Most of them? Half of them? One third? Look he needs to get better at that but I don't ever want that to be his emphasis. I'd rather he'd develop a more reliable pullup jumper instead, a jumpshot off thebounce. Without quetion I want him to continue working on his ball-handling. But Dear God I don't want him becoming some jumphooter who gets most of his points off of long range bombs or backdoor cuts. I want him to retain his natural agression which includes driving to the basket. I know that's not how III's guards typically play but you know change isn't always bad.

Agree with some of what you said--
1. We need Jabril to be a threat from 3.....meaning to be able to knock down an open shot when they come.
2. An offensively improved Nate will be huge for this team--this has to be the year he puts it all together.
3. DSR's knee is clearly another big concern--hope he's at full strength.
I see our starting 5 as- Markel Greg Otto Nate Moses
I think Mikael is the first big guy off the bench as he could fill in at either spot effectively. Jabril and DSR will be the other main bench guys with Tyler/Bowen/Bolden/Hayes as the guys who will need to really work to get their time. We'll see--Kenner should give us a good indication of some things, but you never know what will shake out until the season starts!

I don't find Kenner very helpful at all in terms of seeing how players will play during the season in our offense. Its fun to watch D1 athletes and pros go at it and show what they can do, but I don't think good Kenner play necessarily translates into a good season.
For example, last year in Kenner, Nate showed a nice J but during the season he didn't make it and then he didn't even attempt shots. Essentially, we were playing 4 on 5 on offense IMO. How many teams win consistently and make deep runs with only 4 players on the court? Just wondering, has that ever happened?

Is it sketchy to predict how players will fare in III's offense based upon what they do in KL? Yes. But can you guage the abilities of a player and his possible impact based upon how they perform in the KL? Hell, yeah. I trust it more than their high school play. Also Nate did hit share jumpshots during the regular season. He just didn't take that shot nearly enough.

I had Sims having a senior type breakout during his sophomore season based on Kenner League. It is what it is. Something to go and watch if you have no life. It's extremely difficult to make predictions based on what you have seen.

Is it a passing big man or a big man who can understand the offense...or is it just a guy who can alter shots and plug up the lane ? All I know is that we need someone to step up down low. Anyone

My personal opinion about the Kenner League is that it's a good BS detector. The more information, the better--I like reading other folks' recaps to see how they differ from mine. I always caution folks to not get too spun up about it though, and remember your recappers aren't scouts or coaches, just fans watching games and passing things along. Each summer there are least a few occasions when the hype or hate for a player gets a little beyond what's actually going down on the court, but hey, that's message boards for ya.

Is Tyler Adams cleared to play in the Kenner League? I have read here that he is okay now and others have said he has not been medically cleared. Has anyone actually seen him practicing on the court in recent weeks?

In very limited action, he did look at least like someone who could make room for himself on the block. Hoping for the best for his long term health.
