Beach sand on an urban campus is short-sighted. Not properly maintained, sand will blow away in the winter, be a sludge when it rains, attract is share of litter and general construction dirt, which will render it unpopular among students.
And for those that remember, there was just such a court where the southern edge of Hariri stands, along the road. It was abandoned and later paved over.

In the 90's there used to be beach volleyball courts between Yates and the baseball field, on the baseball field side of the road. I remember playing a couple of times during orientation. They were not used very much at all.

Perhaps, but this is a very different location. Those courts were on the fringe of the then-campus, and few people ever had a reason to make it over there. I didn't even remember that they existed. The proposed court is going to be located right in the middle of a residential quad, and I could see the appeal. It is at least worth a shot.

I'm sure it will be good for a beach party during Dis-O or something.
