Rick Pitino: Samardo Samuels: Ranked #4 by RSCI in 2008, Undrafted Wayne Turner: Ranked #7 by HoopScoop in 1995, Undrafted David Padgett: Ranked #7 by RSCI in 2003, Undrafted Carlos Hurt: Ranked #12 by RSCI in 2001, Undrafted Juan Palacios: Ranked #16 by RSCI in 2004, Undrafted Derrick Caracter: Ranked #17 by RSCI in 2006, Undrafted Steve Wright: Ranked #21 by HoopScoop in 1984, Undrafted There have been 14 top 25 recruits that Pitino coached. That leaves Pitino with a success rate of 50.0% Of the seven players that were drafted, all went in the first round, but only 4 of the seven were lottery picks, and only one player (Jamal Mashburn) was ever drafted in the top 5…... Just sayin.. Roderick Rhodes was also recruited by Pitino as the #1 high school player in the nation. Then he transferred to USC and slid to #24 in the 1st round. That Pitino can't coach! And he runs players out of town!

If you are good enough to play in the NBA...you will play in the NBA at some point or another. There is no secret NBA conspiracy to not draft Georgetown athletes. It's not JT3's fault. You can't use rankings to justify whether a kid should have been drafted or not. Wright had a rather pedestrian career considering his pedigree entering college. At that size, he would have had to have a rather standout body of work, or wowed scouts during workouts to get drafted. Health condition or not. Austin had a decent body of work...but again...6'3 shooting guards w/o elite athleticism are a dime a dozen. What does (or what did) Austin bring to the table that other similar guards in his class didn't? On the flip side to that equation, Green and Hibbert were NOT thought of as sure fire NBA prospects prior to coming to Georgetown. Nobody in there right mind would have guessed Patrick Ewing Jr. would get his name called on draft night either when he transferred here. Greg Monroe was a lottery pick regardless of where he went.
So if anyone wants to give him a rep of not putting guys in the league who "should" have been there...you can make an argument that he's put guys there who shouldn't have.

Great news on Hollis! Will that appease some of the naysayers who said Hollis was not an NBA player and that JTIII shares some blame for not developing players? Who knows? But it is certainly clear now that Hollis' injury had a rather significant impact on his performance during the latter half of last year, and on his draft status. And some of the posts here are looking pretty inane.

Saw on the Twitters that Sims says he's moving on up to NY... Also responded to someone saying he was on with the Knicks. D-league? Anyone know anything? I ran this through the Google and didn't get anything. Hope he's up to something good. Haven't heard any updates on him in a while.

Yeah been seeing that mentioned too but didn’t speak on it because I wasn’t sure if it’s true. The Knicks have been mentioned with a lot of bigs including Kenyon Martin, Lou Amundsun and Sean Williams but they have no money to spend. If the Knicks swing and miss on all of those, which could be very likely, Sims might get a shot at backup PF behind Amare. At least that’s what I am hoping for...

He got invited to training camp, but I don't believe it's anything guaranteed in regards to a contract.

Guaranteed deal? I'm guessing not. But as far as teams Hank could go to that need front court help and don't have the cap room for non-minimum players, the Knicks are a good look. Their front court is Tyson Chandler, Amare, and the rotting corpses of Marcus Camby and Kurt Thomas. They need help.

Hank certainly fills the bill.

More athletic than Kurt Thomas is damning with faint praise, but I agree with you. I really think Sims has some room left to grow. He spent basically one year taking basketball really seriously and he improved by an amazing amount. He will be one of the best passing big guys in the league right away. If he works on his rebounding and his gets his low post game going a little, he could be a nice rotation guy.
