Agreed. Rachel will have to be tough to move on. Top five in each heat and the next two fastest times.
Chelsea Cox did not move on in the 800m to the finals. Top two in each heat and next two fastest overall times.

London Finley was 3rd in her heat in 57.16. She did not have an automatic qualification (top 2), but she had the best next time, so she moves on into the finals. Congratulations London.

Mark Dennin finished 12th out of 24 in the 10000 in a time of 29:30.97 and Alex Lundy finished 22nd in 31:00.68.
Unfortunately, again the men do not score at the NCAA outdoor meet.

Mark might have gotten All-American status. I believe Levins, Sambu, Bouchikhi and Katam are all foreigners giving Mark the last All-American spot. Congrats, if this is the case.

Sleepy, that is probably right. That is a great effort for Mark. And everybody will notice that Mark beat the Syracuse runner, Tito Medrano, who had beaten Mark at the Regionals. And Mark ran 39 seconds faster than he did in the Regionals.

Unfortunately, Rachel did not qualify for the finals, although she ran a fast 4:16. The finals are going to be very tough:

That is an extremely tough field. Nice race by Emily in heat 1. I think she would have won the heat if it was in the finals. Van Dalen pushed for the win.

I couldn't get ESPN3 at work, so I couldn't see the race. Nice to hear that Emily has some in reserved. But it will be tough.

The women's 4x400 relay did well, especially Amanda's 52.36 anchor, but some of those teams were unreal. The anchors for Oregon and Arkansas, who were in the same heat as the Hoyas, went 50.16 and 51.05, respectively.

London finished 8th in the finals of the 400H race, which gives Georgetown its first point of the meet. Probably one of her poorer races of the year, but she apparently clocked a 52.6 relay leg yesterday; perhaps since she gave it her all on the relay leg, she was very tired. Anyway, she had a great season and was truthfully looking at a 6th to 8th placing, based on earlier times. 1 Cassandra Tate SR LSU 55.22 10 2 Turquoise Thompson JR UCLA 55.28 8 3 Ellen Wortham SR Tennessee 55.82 6 4 Thandi Stewart SO Miami 56.53 5 5 Dalilah Muhammad SR USC 56.71 4 6 Danielle Dowie SO Texas 56.85 3 7 Kianna Elahi SR Iowa State 56.93 2 8 London Finley SR Georgetown 58.74 1

Emily just missed winning finishing 2nd to Katie Flood of UW with Jordan Hasay in 3rd. The race went out slowly, so everybody was there on the last lap. It got pretty crowded in the last 200m. Emily usually runs on the inside lane, which is good to conserve energy, but she got blocked a bit coming home and just could not get Flood, who had the hometown crowd behind her (went to HS in Des Moines.)

Great effort by Emily. Congrats to Katie Flood. Katie had the better path around the turn. Emily gave it everything she had and just came up a tad short. She got boxed in a little but credit Katie for hanging tough. Great race. Men's race great too!
