Will be held this weekend in Tampa at USF. It is tougher for the Hoyas to win the outdoor meet than the indoor version, because of all the field events. In the field events we might have one man in the triple jump and probably no women in the field events (at least that has qualified for the BE). The indoor meets are geared toward the middle distance events, but the teams with large contingents in the field events are favored. Nevertheless, there are some events in which the Hoyas should be very competitive. For example, four of the top six BE times in the 5000m are Hoya runners. The women are equally represented in the 1500m and 5000m.

Both men(not surprisingly) and women(surprisingly) were not sharp at Penn. Looks like we're just using it as a training meet.
Both squads will need to improve a lot from their perf at Penn to make some noise at the NCAA.

Well, surprise of surprises, the men stand in 2nd place with 22 points, just behind (boo) Syracuse after the first day. The event that brought this about was the 10000. We have a new BE champ in Mark Dennin in the tactical time of 33:06.47 (remember this is in Tampa). Coming in 3rd just two seconds behind was TC Lumbar in 33:08.76, and coming in 7th is freshman Collin Leibold in 33:13.7. Just missing the scoring was Ben Furcht in 9th in 33:21.03. The other points on the night was Matt Howard, who going in, was our 3rd best steeplechaser. He set what I believe has to be a PR of 9:01.67 for 5th place. Dylan Sorensen must be injured or ill, and Max Darrah is redshirting this year. Great run for Matt.
The women, on the other hand, had just one point on the night with Emily Jones's 8th place finish in the 10000m in 36:04.46. Meaghan Gregory finished 17th in 11:23.77.

Congrats to Mark! Obviously a very strategic race given the time. Nice work by TC and Matt too.

The women right now stand at one point, which relegates them to last place. That should not last as the running finals take place.

Begin rant: We will not win a BE outdoor track and field meet until we get some quality field eventers. Without facilities it is hard to believe that we will get those kind of recruits. End rant.

Tenille Stoudenmire finished 6th in her 100m heat and did not qualify in 11.8. Amanda Kimbers got a bad start, ran 11.64 for 2nd in her heat, but missed qualifying by 0.03 s.
Men's scores:
1. DePaul 32 2. Syracuse 25 3. Notre Dame 24 3. L'ville 24 5. Marquette 22.5 6. Georgetown 22 6. Cincinnati 22
So the men's race is very close. Most of the scoring is from field events, so GU is doing well considering.

Continue rant: Very frustrating since in our heyday in the late 80's and 90's we always had good field eventers to compliment our stable of incredible distance runners. Whether it was a long jumper like Ray Humphrey or a shot putter like Kevin McMahon. Guys who made an impact on the national and international level. And behind those guys we had capable guys who would score points in the field events. One of my roommates was a pole vaulter and i know he would score points at Big East and he was 1 of 3 pole vaulters on the team. Now we don't even have an entry in half the events. I think people forget how dominant Georgetown men's track used to be. End rant.

In the women's 800m Chelsea Cox set a new USF stadium record of 2:06.14 in winning her (3rd) heat. Rachel Schneider won the first heat in 2:07.47. Also, running, but not making the finals were Hannah Neczypor in 6th in 2:11.44, Lauren Borduin in 3rd in 2:10.13, and Shanique DaSilva in 5th in 2:14.4.
