Well, if we couldn't close the deal on a kid that visited twice and set up a 3rd visit while maintaining we lead for him, that might be worse than slow-playing him.

I don't know, it seemed like everything was going right with this kid. Maybe this is just a good example of recruiting craziness.

"After taking my visit I started thinking about the facilities, the people and the coaches and it just felt right and I wanted to be there," Agau said.

I agree, I know hoyas were in good position, but it's why kids continue to take visits. Maybe he got a better feeling at Lville; even though they don't develop bigs at all. His above quote really sums it up and I definitely think facilities were used vs. hoyas.

In reality they have a projected first round center playing on their team this year who nobody knew of before last year. It has to be fresh in his mind.

it's why you keep recruiting JW3. If Agau calls III and says coach I'm not taking any more visits; GU is where I wanna be, then III stops recruiting PF's in his class. But the kid kept taking visits, therefore III kept recruiting PF's. He had to and now we see why. I thought Agau was a perfect fit as far as style and potential development. He won't get that development at Lville. Just ask Samardo...he wasn't a good fit.

Facilities are killing us lately. The gap is getting bigger and bigger.

IT is so hard to predict where a kid is going to go these days. The term "leaders" really means it is who they like at the moment. It seems these recruits will say a team is their leader and then their next visit both teams are equal. As for the facilities, yes they are killing us. I have to be honest, I am starting to doubt that we are going to get any of our top targets in this class.

We would literally have a stable of top guys if we had better facilities. Off the top of my head, KA, NN, AA, Semaj Christon and a few others have been scared away because of facilities. A few others im forgetting too of cours. That beaing said, I am pretty satisfied with the group the staff has been able to assemble, because there is a lot of ability on our current roster. We're a very young team, but we still figure to be a force this year. For every NN we lose we gain a OP, and GW and such. That is more than enough talent and ability to be able to stay among the elite.
Facilities hurt our recruiting, but we've really done fine regardless. Lets hope III continues to recruit pieces that fit the specific team he is trying to construct, and a few years down the line the facilities progress so that he can build upon whichever identity the program is looking to take. GU is already more than a household name, and with new facilities, III may be able to take this program to an all-time high.

It certainly didn't help.
The staff is recruiting at a high level without good facilities. Imagine what they could do if there weren't such a disparity in facility quality!

Too bad. However, though many thought he'd be a great fit for the system, he clearly is not unique and there are others out there we can still recruit. Besides, I still hope that there are no openings next year--no transfers, early departures or medical issues.

Besides, I still hope that there are no openings next year--no transfers, early departures or medical issues. It's always good to "hope for the best", but it is wise to "prepare for the worst -- likely early departure of some kids". Like all Hoya fans, I hope there are no (more) medical issues. But if one or two of our guys play so well they are likely high draft picks and opt to leave early, we will have enjoyed a heck of a season. A couple of unexpected openings next year doesn't have to be a negative.

I'd love to hear it.

and I don't think the kid used facilities vs. GU, but the Cardinal staff using it negatively in recruiting.

I think if GW has a breakout year; he could jump ship. That would be Otto and GW. Not a prediction, but more to Sir Saxa's post above. You have to keep recruiting...

When schools are on equal footing its the little things that set them apart. Atop that list would be facilities and it helped tip the scales. There is not often one single reason why recruits dont pick a school. But lacking in the facilities almost always hurts our cause.
