You are being pretty obtuse kc- tinfoil hat my foot. Why leave it off PTI on day where they had time for a segment on Maria Sharapova'ds hair? Maybe korn has total control of his radio show but much less on the FAR more important national tv show. Whatever the reason I can say unequivocally as a loyal PTI watcher for many years it is inexplicable that story didnt get a top 10 placement on yesterday's show.
Forget conspiracy- lets talk basic facts- how the hell was the only coach in history with nba and ncaa titles going back into coaching NOT a top 10 story on espn yesterday? If he went to BC or NC State do you think it might have been? I do.

I'm with the thebin here. Kornheiser's connection with Brown makes it hard to believe that the story would not have been featured on PTI without some kind of instruction not to talk about it. Hadn't thought about that. I checked the podcast. In the last block, when Tony and Mike comment on each topic for about five seconds, Reali mentioned Brown to SMU. After talking about it all week on his radio program, Tony's comment was "No comment by me." I'm not a believer in too many conspiracy theories, but this does make sense.

I'm with thebin here. There's absolutely no logical reason why this wouldn't have been a featured story on PTI. So...

What's the story they are burying exactly? "Old coach goes to irrelevant basketball program?"

PTI is filmed earlier in the day. The content in the show is scripted, for the most part. So there is a deadline as to when something has to have happened for it to end up on the show.
The more important thing (though this really isnt important at all) is if they talked about it today.
Everyone needs to stop with these conspiracy theories. Its really moronic of all of you to think this crap. Do you also believe in chem trails and 9/11 conspiracies? At least those have circumstantial evidence (though they are also BS) not just innuendo and guesses

Jgalt- the story was know way before they film. But, now that you got on your "moron" horse about all of us with eyes to see some pretty plain facts, pls to explain why it wasnt mentioned today either..... You are the "moron" if you think Korn's terse "no comment" line about a legend and friend of his returning to the game is par for the course.

What's the story they are burying exactly? "Old coach goes to irrelevant basketball program?" Clearly you have never seen PTI if you think all 15-20 stories DAILY are earth- shattering news.

You are the "moron" if you think Korn's terse "no comment" line about a legend and friend of his returning to the game is par for the course. I think this is the key. Kornheiser loves Brown, and seems to go out of his way to talk about all the time, no matter the relevance.

So is the theory that Norby Williamson and John Walsh sent a direct order to PTI yesterday not to discuss the hiring of Larry Brown because ESPN hates the Big East? Is there some reason they have not previously prohibited PTI from discussing other news related to the (apparently hated) Big East? Should I be concerned they have bugged my house, too? Did anyone analyze Tony's blinking patterns for Morse code messages?

I think he will surprise people with how long he stays there. Not saying he stays there forever, but more than a couple of years. Really likes the 'student-athlete' concept that he thinks exists at SMU.

So Larry Brown was finally mentioned quite prominently on PTI last night. Finally. In fact it was the top story: it was about the verbal sniping between he and MJ. So I guess we were all nuts after all.
Except they didn't mention once that he was the coach at SMU now- a job he notably just took and which Korn /Wilbon had yet to make a single comment except to say that they explicitly would not make one even though blabbering incessantly about basketball non-stories is their bread and butter. Which is to say the man was mentioned in the top story with no standard journalistic context whatsoever. None. Not even just to introduce the story as "New SMU coach Larry Brown said...." While I'm readjusting my tinfoil hat, have any of you EVER heard a current coach introduced in an ESPN story without mention to the team he currently coaches? Ever?
Ignore all this smoke everyone, all rational people know there can't be any dirty dealings at the worldwide leader. Its all above board when it comes to the billion dollar tv business. I'm sure the ghost of Edward R Murrow guides the Disney ship these days as ever.
So instead of noticing all of the smoke, you can just point out that there can't be a fire by hypothesizing the most absurd way in which the fire might have been started, thereby proving your rational bona fides by being able to thus declare there isn't even any smoke. We're all just imagining it.
