Went to the reception yesterday where Robert Groves was welcomed into the "Georgetown community" (I think that was DeGioia's phrase).
Groves gave a short speech. Said how the more he learned about Gtown, the ever more enthusiastic he became about his application to the provost position. He's still learning and he needs 'us' to help teach him what Gtown is about. Wants to look for opportunities for new synergies. Wants what we all want: for Georgetown to be the best university anywhere. Strong, emphatic statement about Jesuit, Catholic identity (including something like, "Catholic institutions have THE answer our world needs").
