So that's it? Nobody in the national media wants to take on Dirty Magoo and the ridiculous string of bad acts on his watch? Is there even a single article calling for a second look at Boeheim's legacy? I was thinking the same thing. Sadly, I'm not surprised.

If by the media you mean ESPN - they will never do it. They probably want him to come work for them when he is done so they wont publish any bad press about him. I suspect some random media outlets Yahoo, Fox, SI etc may publish stuff if he were to leave or when he retires...but not before.
My point about feeling bad is - I'm not a terrible person like most cuse fans are. And I feel bad for the mom and dad who had to send their kid to cuse because he couldn't get in anywhere else. That mom and dad probably became cuse fans because their kid went there...and they thought they had a chance at a national title...and now have to face the fact that they cheered for a terrible team, with criminal players, and a hole coach. it would suck to be them.
besides - people used to say all kinds of nasty things about JT Jr and his race stances ... I just have a little more balanced opinion. I'm sure there are 'some' reasonable people that happen to cheer for cuse.
I did have a boss at my last job that went to cuse, played a sport there and loved the team. But he was always very complimentary of g town, the program, and the coaches. He even respected Eshrick in addition to the JTs. I'm sure he is in the minority - but I do feel bad for him.

My in-laws all live in Syracuse, 2 of them went there. I love my in-laws, they are great - but I have no sympathy for them today! You can't spell Singularly Unholy without SU, my friends.

I haven't listened to the sports talk radio for months around here. Couldn't help but tune in yesterday. Of course the first half of the show was all we hate the NCAA and their rules.. then once it was determined that SU determined the ineligibility it was we don't need him, blah blah blah. There's now 2 Melo's that NY is ready to get rid of quick While many of the NCAA rules are probably pretty ridiculous, I am comfortable saying the ones about not failing classes, not doing drugs and not molesting children are sound and well-informed ;D

I am sure this quite from the ESPN article is being parsed to death on the Cuse boards:
The players learned that they would have to move on without the Big East defensive player of the year in the huddle at the end of Tuesday's practice.
"We were upset, especially since this is the last ride," Dion Waiters said. "We would love for everybody to be here."
My read...so long Waiters...

Everyone on the syracuse boards mentions that Waiters hasn't attended any second semester classes.

I don't see why losing Melo is a big deal. Dash Riley should be able to step right in. SUcks won't miss a beat.

Wonder what that does to Cuse's APRs? Oh, well, it will be the ACC's problem.

Is there even a single article calling for a second look at Boeheim's legacy? Come on, Syracuse controls sports media. Just look at the way they treated and destroyed one program (Penn State) while protecting Syracuse over the Bernie Fine incident. You never even hear them mention the Bernie Fine controversy when talking about Syracuse.

Interview on TV with Magoo. Sounds like this was an unexpected incident that happened this week. Nothing else new. This thread continues to make me happy.

Seth Davis thinks it is a positive that Cuse has dealt with a lot of off court issues this year so they are prepared. What a dink.
-11 rebound margin when Melo was out. That will not get it done. Good bye Cuse. Good bye Magoo.

As much as I hate Cuse, I respect Jimmy for going about it professionally. In his interview he said everything correctly in terms of how his basketball team should go forward. He left little room for excuses, and he still expects his team to play to whatever standard he holds them to.
But of course this comes as a pleasant surprise (or unpleasant?) because i fully expected him to make a joke out of it again.

What color is the sky in Seth Davis' world? It is a positive that your long time bench coach is at best a pervert and at worst a felon? It is a positive that you hide failed drug test for over a decade? It is a positive that your players like to slap women around? It is a positive that your center misses three games in January because he flunked fingerpanting and then cheats his way back in and gets caught again? It is a positive that one of your dingleberry alums in Bristol probably just committed a recruiting violation? Imagine if the Cuse had any negatives this year...

The Syracuse boards are floating a number of theories, from course ineligibility to someone discovering Melo had signed with an agent. As many know, Syracuse does a good job keeping its business out of the papers so it's possible this will never be fully disclosed.
What is fascinating is the pre-ACC tenor of Jim Boeheim. Any coach worth his paycheck wants to know everything about his program, because he's ultimately responsible. Yet, since the Syracuse officials did not have the common courtesy to tell Boeheim it was negotiating with the ACC, it's now as if every answer from the coach channels the famous Hogan's Heroes character Sgt. Schultz: "I know nothing!"
The running joke from the show was, of course, Schultz did know. A lot.
Ask Boeheim about 35+ years with Bernie (and Laurie) Fine, he didn't know the first thing about it. Drug tests? No idea. Melo ineligible? First he's heard of it, and with a wry smile on his face. "It's a school matter," he says, as if it's now someone else's heartache. If a coach lost his best player on the eve of the NCAA's, with his best team in a decade or more, wouldn't there be a little more fire in the belly? Fifty years after he walked through the campus gates, and after 36 years as the most visible figure in that school's athletic history short of Jim Brown, Boeheim is suddenly a nine to fiver who just shows up and leaves all the details to someone else.
As much as the Big East fan bases would like to think, he's no fool. Is he playing the short-timer game, or just making things uncomfortable for those upstairs and getting the last laugh?

I don't think the Schultz comparison is fair. Hogan et al. were not the scumbags that Bernie/the Syracuse players are.
