Maybe he's not taking enough classes or something second semester. He probably had his eyes on the league and reduced his course load below the NCAA minimum requirement so that he could chill. I have no inside info, just speculation. I really cant think of any other reason someone would be declared ineligible on two separate accounts during one season. Are you really clueless enough to think that the Syracuse academic support staff wouldn't have noticed if he dropped a class "so that he could chill"? Also, why would you drop a class when you don't go to your other ones anyway? Are you trying to ease up the course load on the tutors?

Think about it - what kind on shenanigans must have gone on to get him eligible this last time - out with a academic eligibility issue that after what, 10 days, went away? Did they have trouble finding someone to re-take that test or write the paper for him? Wish I could have had do-overs when I was at GU. This whole Fab Melo thing has stunk to high heavens since the very beginning. At least Kentucky was smart enough to just let the Kanter issue rest in peace when they got bagged. When you are being outshined in ethics by Kentucky, that's really saying something.

Would Noel want to be associated with such a program? Unfortunately alot of very talented recruits have not been deterred by the odor of their program. Hopefully Nerlens has more class.

I think it took that long to get him to color inside the lines. (We're not even mentioning his offseason arrest and their lack of discipline for that. He might be in my pantheon of favorite Cuse players along with Devendorf.)

Ryan Burr (yes the ESPN one) tweets:
Message 2 Nerelins Noel the top undecided center in HS. Fab Melo surely will be turning pro how would u like to be in the middle of the zone
God, these people are dumb.

I mean, how can you possibly have credibility as a journalist when that is how you respond? Oh wait, ESPN doesn't do journalism.

2 interesting developments; (1) Thamel just tweeted that Melo is expected to declare for NBA draft(no big surprise); and (2) Ryan Burr, ESPN host of college bball Final and also Sportscenter anchor just tweeted "2 Nerlens Noel - Fab Melo expected to declare for draft, how would you like to be in middle of the zone ". As an SU alum, isn't that some type of recruiting violation?

He appears to be the host of college basketball shows. How's that acceptable???

Mike Tirico also had a silly post about only the "true fans" staying loyal. The ESPN/Cuse partnership is really something to behold.

Pete Thamel has 'sources' telling him Melo is gone to the NBA.
If he has 'sources' around the program, uh...why not do an investigative report (since, you know..that is what he does) on the program that is proving to be the biggest mess in CBB right now?

I just tweeted at him: "Yes, Mr. Noel needs to attend a school that is about to vacate all their wins and hasn't produced a good big since Coleman."

Journalistic ethics is among the legion of things not taught at Syracuse along with basic hygiene, basic English and basic manners.

The Burr tweet is starting to reverberate. It's been an interesting 5-10 minutes, watching his career crumble in real-time on Twitter.

The Burr tweet is starting to reverberate. Even as a "joke" the tone deafness is really astounding. If you're a fan of a team, why would you want to call extra attention to what would be (in your eyes) a really unfortunate blow and huge distraction as you're about to head into the tournament. And assuming you have even the slightest empathy for Melo (hard, I know, but he is a kid), why would you want to pile on? It's truly baffling.

I wonder if they withheld this announcement until after they got the #1 seed. Hmmmm.... Is there any doubt? This is just like when their center twisted his ankle. I don't see Boeheim returning next year.
