How will they persuade Cal to leave Kentucky? They won't have to. He'll leave two steps ahead of the posse, just as he always does.

There's your winner. Coach Vacation's tenure at UK will have never happened 5 years from now...

Just the level of hard hitting investigative reporting I expected from Pete Syracuse Grad Thamel. What a head in the sand article.

I agree with RDF. Let's see: coaches who molest children, players who abuse women, players smoking weed and a head coach who saw/knows nothing. The Big East may not be a better basketball conference without Syracuse, but will be a conference with infinitely more integrity. Let the ACC deal with them.

Today's Garden Marquee: 12:00 Noon "Scholastic Slugs vs. Kids on Drugs" I dream of a world where this thread reaches Latavious proportions, with a nice slow trickle of news and adjudicatory proceedings provides nail after nail after nail for the Cuse coffin, and they wonder in two years "how are we going to beat Wake Forest?"

These guys and the scumbags in Lexington are by far the best teams out there right now. Honestly, if being like them is what it takes to be successful in college hoops, I wonder why I even bother caring.

Not liking dirty recruiting (Kentucky) is one thing--this is a completely different story. I think lumping any school with Syracuse starts/ends with Penn State in terms of the issues going on there and the lack of understanding the importance of real life as opposed to sports.

Quote:"This was reported five years ago, and we're waiting for them to finish the process," Boeheim said when asked about the drug tests. "If things were bothering us we wouldn't be 31-1. Nothing bothers us. We come ready to play. That's what you should do in life. Everybody gets bothered. Everybody has problems. I'm much more concerned about my wife being mad at me than I am anything else, to tell you the truth."
About 3 hours after Boeheim spoke at the news conference the NCAA released a statement clarifying the time frame.
"The NCAA enforcement staff received a self-report from Syracuse University on October 27, 2010," the organization said.
While I don't have time to dig up the real quote, Boeheim let loose another jewel at yesterday's press conference when he said something close to " we won't be distracted .. the only things my kids care about are how well they are playing and their girlfriends." Nothing about his kids having to balance sports with academics or immersing themselves into student life. Just thought it speaks volumes to the fraternity-like mind set surrounding his tenure at Syracuse.

Nothing is going to come of any of this, but these quotes from Boeheim are unbelievably revealing as to his mindset and the approach he and his university take toward supposed student-athletes. He should be getting so much heat for this but, instead, the media closes their eyes and, in fact, praise him because his team is playing well. Utterly disgusting.

I for one can not wait until they leave the Big East. The pleasure derived in beating them only barely outweighs the revulsion of being around their apologist fans. Just imagine that Syracuse, Duke and Maryland will all live together now.

That's a good point, Elvado.
Throw in the Pitt and WVU departures, and that's a lot less fan awfulness we'll have to suffer.

I guess that's the difference with seeing the glass half full and wanting to break the glass over someone's head.
