Not sure you can attribute the complete breakdown in being able to defend the back screen in the Pitt game solely on Nate. Especially those times when he was on the bench.

The triple-team of the opponent with the ball led to almost all of the easy dunks and lay-ups. It was not just Nate. That was miscommunication and lack of execution of something the team had worked on all week. Then, it was lack of adjustment by JT3, instead of stubbornly trying it til it worked.

I think Nate will give us a good defensive performance tonight. I'm looking forward to watching it. We're going to need him.

Yeah Nate had some good moments. He had his hand on a lot of loose balls and he didn't hurt us with TOs.

Strong 2nd Half minutes from Nate and did a nice job on defensive end/glass/hustle plays. Way to keep battling.

Agree that Nate had a much better outing tonight. Stayed at home much better and helped to clog up the lane and reduce the amount of space Drummond and Oriakhi had to operate in down-low. Also had a really nice assist right before the end of the half to put us up 10 and solidify our momentum going into the break.

I think Nate should lose 10-15 pounds and work on getting quicker. I like him as a player and think he has progressed from his freshman year, but the weaknesses in his game appear physical. He is often an inch or two away from grabbing a rebound and a half step behind an offensive player when trying to defend them. And he can give those 10-15 pounds to Whittington by the way!

All bashing aside, Nate was key to beating UConn last night. He did not put up points, but he set some killer screens to get Hollis open, had some great passes within the offense, and was a tough body on D. The Hoyas don't need 10 points a night from him - they need the hustle plays he gave them last night.

Yes Nate deserves a lot of credit for his play last night. Made a lot of positive things happen and looked much more confident out there. We need this type of contribution from Nate to realize our potential this season.

All bashing aside, Nate was key to beating UConn last night. This comment is Delusional! I guess you didnt see The return of Hollis, or the big shots by Jason, or the intangibles of Otto or the surprising good play by Hopkins. Nate... Ok.

richfame, what game did you watch? vanilla played his role just like the rest of the team did for a change except Starks (another sophmore) who was awful and Henry (senior) was a turnover machine.
I sat two rows in front of Dan and saw what he saw, where did you watch from? The moon?

If you watch a game by focusing on Nate, I think you will see that he pretty much does everything right. He's just going to always be criticized because he doesnt score, so that's always going to be in the back of everyone's mind. I thought last night was the perfect example. He seemed like he was in the right spot always, and when his man scored, it was more because the rotation wasnt right by others. I think the issue with Nate, for good or bad, is that plays offense and defense EXACTLY as coach draws it up. That's a good thing, but sometimes he gets hung out to dry when others improvise. That improvisation is probably what makes those players better, but you also need guys like Nate to play as they are coached.

If you look at point totals, you're right. However, Hollis doesn't get wide open for two of his 3s or get his easy second half layup without Nate's screens and passing. Jason doesn't score that easy layup out of the late second half timeout when UConn was trying to make a run without Nate's screen and dish to him from the top of the key. Of course the other guys contributed. I was actually at the game last night watching. How about you?

How about you? cnnsi.com/2012/basketball/ncaa/02/02/georgetown.connecticut/index.html?sct=hp_t2_a16&eref=sihpBut there is a reason UConn has now lost four straight and six of its last eight games, and it can be summed up in one sequence midway through the second half.
The Huskies were in the midst of their first surge since the opening minutes of the game. They had cut what was once a 12-point lead to six -- a notable feat for a team that had managed three baskets over a 20-minute stretch that spanned both halves -- before Jason Clark made a driving lay-up out of a timeout.
On the ensuing UConn possession, a Jeremy Lamb three pointer bounced off the other side of the backboard. No one was able to come up with the rebound cleanly, and the ball eventually landed in the middle of three Huskies. As UConn star freshman Andre Drummond reached for the loose ball, Georgetown forward Nate Lubick dove on the ground and forced a tie-up.
UConn retained possession, but Drummond eventually missed two free throws, which led to a jumper at the other end from Clark. After Lamb airballed a three on the following possession, Sims capitalized on Drummond gambling for a steal by driving and throwing down a big dunk on UConn's front line.

Nate played fine last night, but he certainly wasn't the reason we won yesterday. had a terrible turnover on the first possession of the game, made a nice pass on the last possession of the 1st half.
sean mcdonough said the nate has had a disappointing sophomore season....first commentator to allude to it. he must have been reading hoyatalk.

The Nate bashing is way over the top. I would start a thread for Markel, who has been worse than Nate recently, but Im not a fan of bashing a player. Just saying if we want to be consistent and objective..
