16-4 overall. 6-3 in conference. Tied for 3rd in a logjam. Top 15, I'll guess 14 or 15.
The Defense, minus tonight, has been consistently solid. The offense, while we have had droughts, has more often than not produced open looks. Tonight was a prime example of how missing shots can make any offense look bad. Watch the tape, most of our 1st half looks were good looks. They just weren't falling.
Our rebounding overall is much improved from last season. Otto is a big part of this, but Nate and Henry also should be commended for picking up their rebounding numbers this season. We limited the turnovers today which is a step in the right direction.
Clark was sick almost all week with a flu-like bug, sore throat, fatigue, etc. Hollis is nursing a strained calf, missed multiple practices this week and is still not full strength. Pitt was hungry for a season redeeming victory. Games like this happen, just need to bounce back and get healthy.
The last 9 games feature 5 home games: I believe we will be favored in all 5, and over the course of John's tenure we have always been strong at home. 2 of the 4 road games are winnable in Seton Hall and Providence. I am confident in predicting a 20 win season and top half Big East finish with obviously room for even much better in the final standings if things click.

Numbers aside, this is not a top 25 team right now. Yes, they have a decent resume but the eye test says this is not a very good team at the moment. Hate to say it but it feels like last season after Wright went down

You've been predicting doom since the start of the season. With half of the season out of the way, please give us your prediction for the rest of the season.
I'm sticking to my 12-6 pre-BE prediction. I had this one as a loss, but it still hurts to see the team go down as it did today.

While I agree this team does not look like a Top 25 team, this in no way resembles last year without CW. The team is 3-1 over its last 4 BE games. Not terrible and if Pitt finishes out the season with a winning BE record going forward this loss is not as bad as it looks today.
The biggest thing missing right now is consistency from Hollis. He is an upperclassman, I expect more from him than disappearing and re-appearing when he wants. He needs to be a consistent threat on offense. Honestly, I do not care if he is sub-standard on defense, this team needs to be able to score right now against a BE defense. I do not like how folks are criticizing the team's defense today, scoring basically 50 points when the game mattered against Pitt is simply not good enough, period.

Pitt with Gibbs and their PG back is by no means a bad team. Much better than their record.

Call me a pessimist, but I see another 8th place finish like recent years. Probably another great win and a series of disappointing losses to go while other teams with solid coaching adjustments climb the standings.

But that's something that anyone who reads these boards regularly figured out a long time ago I just don't recall exactly when guru became an official member of the club. But he is sure carrying the torch quite well.

This team looks nothing like last years team during the CW injury. This team plays pretty good D and rebounds. That alone will get us Ws against the bottom feeders. I do agree that we arent a Top 10 team the way the Markel is playing now. If Markel plays anywhere near the level of the L'Ville game, we are definately a Top 10 team......................

It's starting to feel like a 9-7 or 10-8 finish. I agree that the eye test would suggest we are not a top 15 team. That St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall stretch is going to be critical. We need to take 2 of those 3. The Nova game worries me. We've done very well against them in the past, favored or not favored. Hopefully, they don't turn the tables on us. Overall, we've done much better than I would have guessed. However, we haven't had real strong February's like when the old man was in charge. 2010-2011 4-6; 2009-2010 7-7; 2008-2009 4-7.

Team is considerably better than anticipated. Are they a tournament team? Yes, but perhaps it is time to scale back expectations a little. Three freshmen are playing alot and well, but none have yet developed a consistent shot from the outside. Hollis is a proven shooter, but has not played well on defense and seems to disappear from the game when others concentrate on stopping him. Not certain he has the ability to create his own shot, which is absolutely required if he plans to play in the NBA as a guard.
Nate is a high effort guy who rebounds, but has major shortcomings on the offensive end, which makes it that much easier for other teams to guard the other four. Clark is a team leader, who contributes even when his outside shot does not fall. He is the first half MVP. Henry has come back to earth somewhat, but that is perhaps more a function of low expectations for him at the beginning of the year that caused him to look better than he really is and raise expectations far too much. He is a solid center, with great passing skills, good defense, and average to below average scoring ability in a post-up position. Move him away from the basket and he is a better shooter.
Starks has crashed after a couple of standout games. He is not yet a good point guard. Hopkins is a work in progress, Bowen completely out of the picture ( what happened to the positive predictions when he was recruited) , and Adams and Moses injured.
Lastly, JT III has done a good job of developing the freshmen, a good job of disguising some of the holes in this team and just been okay so far in figuring out how to get more out of Hollis, Nate and Starks. Hollis is critical to second half success and needs to be a factor in every game.

OK, but Roy Hibbert is gone. The last three years on this list look terrible. And anyone who's not worried that this team is about to spiral the same way as we have the last few seasons is just trying to be blissfully ignorant of the past, not to mention ignoring how Edited poor we've looked for quite a while now.

Guru Our defense will give us a shot to win almost all of the games on the rest of the schedule.. Something we could have never said at any time within the last three years.. So although I’m not pleased with how we have played lately I think we can gut out some wins we would have not gotten last year

all the games left on the schedule are winable. we just need to have the right HOYA team show up, defend and run the offense correctly. CUSE is beartable, let's send them to the ACC with two to four straight loses to the HOYAS.

I heard somewhere recently that only four teams have been ranked in the top 10 at some point during each of the past six years: Duke, UNC, Pitt and Georgetown. That's pretty heady company, and Pitt's streak will end this year. Unfortunately, we have faded significantly the last three of those years. Let's just hope this year is different.

I think 11-7.
We have 4 games left against ranked teams & Notre Dame (which has played well recently). 2 of those are on the road. If we drop the road games and split the home games, that's 3 more losses. The other 5 games should be Ws but I anticipate dropping an unexpected one due to the youth and inconsistency.
That's 5-4 for the remainder of the season which is still an improvement over recent years.

Thanks to Hoyasaxa.com the keys to the second half are apparent: rebounding, FTs and turnovers.
Georgetown's rankings among the 16 Big East schools by statistical category:
Avg. Rank Avg. Rank
