It's hard to believe that Al Skinner has not landed somewhere yet. Is there some reason behind this?

Skinner is a casualty of the NCAA coaching fraternity--some ex-coaches seem to get recycled every few years (How many jobs has Lon Kruger had, anyway?) while others never seem to get a callback. (Mike Jarvis, Dan Dakich, Joey Meyer, etc. )
Classic example: Paul Evans: Five NCAA bids at Pitt, NCAA Final Eight at Navy. Hasn't coached in 18 years and is never in discussion.

3rd consecutive loss to URI....The ACC it seems has basketball teams that wouldn't crack the top 5 in New England.
Wow. I'm just now seeing that they didn't just lose to Holy Cross and UMass, they got totally smoked by both.

For comparison's sake, American, Savannah St (!) and IUPUI are all ranked higher than BC by Kenpom (BC is 271). The next worst major (BCS) conference team is Texas Tech, who is ranked 70 spots higher than them (206). The next worst ACC team, Wake Forest, is ranked 100 spots higher than them (and Maryland is only ranked about 110 spots higher--great conference that ACC). The worst Big East team, DePaul, is ranked 120 spots higher than them (151).

Only reason BC isn't officially the worst BCS team ever is because of this years Utah team who is even worse(333rd in Kenpom) Of course one could argue it's unfair to include them since it's their first year as a BCS team while BC is an established BCS program. However 333rd is horrific no matter how you slice it and Utah should be much better than that with their history.

I'll just use that as my takeaway until the inevitable edit. ;D

I absolutely agree with HSB's (corrected) post. It's unfathomable that Utah could be that bad.
The chickens are roosting all over BC, and I'm loving that.
So DePaul is ahead of Maryland in Kenpom's ratings? Wowowowowowowowow!!! ;D ;D ;D

DeFilippo put it out there that Al was lazy. You never heard it directly from him, but it came from the BC Athletic Dept through their media toadies. Providence seemed like the perfect landing spot for Skinner but they hired Cooley (his assistant) instead.

Are we sure this is the same Jesuits as GU, or even Xavier?

Wouldn't BC need to really improve to make it to irrelevance?

Was interested in the RPI's for Jesuit schools. Not sure whether it's late enough in the season for RPI calculations, but here's the results as of 1/8/12.

Missing/non-division I: Loyola-New Orleans; Spring Hill; Regis; Le Moyne; Rockhurst; Wheeling; John Carroll; Scranton

I'm not that well versed in the long and mediocre history of Clemson basketball. But if they've ever had a more embarassing loss than tonight at BC, I'd love to know what it is.
