I wouldn't read much into this. You see that kind of stuff all the time on those boards. Also, Rush's recruitment seems to be changing rapidly in the sense that he was looking at 5 schools and cut his list to 3 within a matter of days.

I posted about this a few weeks ago when Rush was first discussed.
A little over a month ago, I went to see one of Rush's games at Mount Zion with a guy whose son goes there but doesn't play ball. In short, Rush in an NBA athlete but is by no means ready for the NBA (he scored two points in the first half). However, we spoke with the school's AD about where various players were looking in regard to college, and he said that Brandon was pretty much only looking at the NBA. Now, that may have changed, as I really doubt that he would be drafted (maybe late in the second round), and maybe the AD is not totally in the loop, but you can take it for what it's worth.
Personally, I want recruits who have a serious interest in graduating. I'm not saying that if Rush were to come to college that wouldn't be the case, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about getting a guy who planned on the NBA all along, but then had to "fall back" on college.
Also, I don't understand why Rush would go to a team that runs any version of the Princeton offense. This guy is a run-and-gun athlete who should be in a transition game. He looked lethargic in the half court and isn't a shooter as of yet. He could certainly learn to succeed in the Princeton O, but I don't know why he would force that fit.
Look, I would be excited to get him-- the kid has a lot of talent-- but A) I don't think it will happen and B) I have some concerns if it does.
GO HOYAS! Defy the bubble!

Mount Zion? Brother of Kareem and Jaron Rush?
Pass.
I think some of you would be arguing that this is a good idea even if Myron Piggie adopted this kid.

It is dicey. On the one hand, you have a great prospect and honor roll student. On the other you have a family that's 2-2 in the scandal department. Has the youngest brother learned or would history repeat itself?
I don't know, but if he hasn't been taking any cash he is an incredible prospect by all accounts and an immediate starter.

I had the same reservations some people had.
But I have to trust our coach and AD on this one. The kid is obviously smart, and he's had an excellent do not role model in Jaron, who unfortunately left school and let alcohol rule his life. On the other hand, four year player Kareem is firmly in the middle of a nice NBA career.
As for why Georgetown and why our system, a) he'll get PT and b) maybe he wants to improve himself as a player.
Actually, while a run and gun game would fit Rush, I've also heard our offense will as well, since apparently he has a nice game but isn't as strong in his one on one game as other top players. The Princeton would get him shots and he is apparently a good passer, etc., all that is needed.
Most people that have seen him know he's not ready to jump and may not be for a few years.

True enough. His game would actually fit perfectly. I don't know why people assume a kid like this doesn't fit into JTIII's offense. There's already one Brandon who is our leading scorer and a slasher and had two of the top three plays on ESPN against UConn.
If our offense isn't going well, it's a bad fit but when it's working a guy like Rush who can get to the rim is exactly what we want. When we have a full 13 schollies and some more experience, we should be able to get out ahead of the defense more and the two Brandons would be getting to the rim with the best of them.

I haven't read much about his defense, but anyone that athletic can certainly learn. Can you picture him on the point of a full court press? With his size, quickness and athleticism?
Once T3 has his guys and some depth, I will be very curious to see how he handles the Defense. A return to real HOYA D as taught by Pops would be amazing. You know, as much as people knock Pops for his simplistic offense, he was an absolute master of Defense. The Hoyas of the '80s would often press and trap the entire 40 minutes -- drive people crazy. And when they got into the half court, it was often a different Defense each time. Man to Man, various zones, showing multiple looks to confuse the heck out of opponents. Quickness, size and an awesome shot blocker to back everything up.
A team that combines full court pressure and aggressive half court D, with a fast break offense that switches to Princeton principles when the break isn't there.... with some amazing athletes and guys like Thornton who can knock it down from deep..... aahhhhh the stuff that dreams are made of!

They played each other last night in the championship game of the John Carroll National Tournament down in Durham, NC. Brandon Rush scored 22pts. to help Mt. Zion to a 82-77 victory over National Christian. However, Jessie Sapp led all scorers with 34 pts! The box score is in the Sunday edition of the Washington Post.
I wonder if Sapp and Rush had a chance to talk about G'Town? Hopefully Sapp did some recruiting of his own, not with his words but with his play! When a player drops 34 against your team you have to take notice.
Sapp really seems to be a dominator. Mt. Zions generally one of the most talented HS teams around, so to drop 34 is really impressive to me. Cant wait til he gets here, and I really hope his game translates well to the Big East right away.

As I have said before Sapp is going to be a big time player. The guy is the real deal once again.
