Sweet - an actual reason to watch a Celtics game.

Jeff with 30 tonight including 4 points in the last 12 seconds to take the game to overtime, plus a bunch of rebounds and the best defense I have seen him play since he came into the league. He also had a couple highlight reel throw downs, of which I fully expect Dan to post clips.

Uncle Jeff is going off in Memphis tonight vs. the Magic with a season high 30 points off the bench including a jump hook in the lane over 2 defenders with 1.3 seconds left in the game to force overtime. Going into overtime he is 11/17 from the floor with 4 of those points in the 20 seconds that included a fast break kick ahead to JG down side line that lead to nice left handed dunk over Magic center Vucevic and the previously mentioned jump hook with 1.3 seconds left to erase what was a 4 point deficit for the Grizzlies. At one point in the game, Green had 23 points in 17 minutes of action. Jeff topped off his fantastic night with a block of an Oladipo layup 25 seconds left in overtime and the Memphis up 105-102 to wrap up the victory for the Grizzlies.
Watching Jeff play tonight reminds me how uber talented he is but also inconsistent or passive on many nights is a reflection of what the Hoyas have been pretty much since he left Georgetown for the Association. Especially this season, an extremely talented group but very inconsistent, passive and in most nights not putting it all together and playing up to their potential. Talent wise JG should be a perennial All Star and on most years the Hoyas should be winning the BIG EAST Title and a Sweet 16 program. Neither has had happened since JG left and has many fans lost for an answer as to why?
Grizzlies win 106-102
Jeff Green 30 points and 8 rebounds on 11/18 FGA
***Interesting Note: Grizzlies used JG not as a true point guard, but as the initiator of the offense and primary ball handler with Conley in the game for most of the first half and various instances in the 2nd half an overtime. A change in game plan that I haven't seen them use before. It really seemed to space the floor and get JG more opportunities to get down hill and attack the paint. The change in his usage and team strategy might have been a catalyst for his explosive and efficient night.
Watch Uncle Jeff Green force overtime with a tough Jump hook in the lane over 2 Magic defenders!

Otto with 15-6-2 to lead the Wizards. Unfortunately, they lost. Good first game back for Otto.

Dikembe Mutumbo was on ESPN "PTI" program this evening as a moderator for a segment. Always enjoyable to see Mutumbo! Great ambassador for Georgetown, the NBA and basketball worldwide!

I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but both Greg and Jeff both led their teams with 21 points last night as The Grizzlies beat the Bucks by 20.

In worse news, Otto may have suffered a hip flexor tear. Its been hurting him for several games and he left after just a few minutes last night. Hope its not related to the hip flexor injury that had him miss half of his rookie year.

I tried to post a link from my phone last night but clearly it got lost in the internets. Jeff has quietly produced a string of really nice offensive games since the Memphis newspaper beat writer all but demanded they ship him out of town.

Yeah, saying the local Memphis media dislikes Jeff Green is an understatement. He has had about 7 or 8 straight good games including 3 or 4 where he ended up as the leading scorer. The coaching staff made an interesting change in his usage that correlated to production uptick. They started using him as an initiator of the offense. Not necessarily a point forward but a primary ball handler, even with Chalmers or Conley in the game with him. I wonder what the local media is saying about his current uptick in production.

The other recent positive is that he has recently developed a one handed floater that he shoots from 8-12 feet. This stops him from charging which has been a recurring problem against good defensive teams.

Podcast, more aggressive, infer that teammates and agent go on him since benching. Something "changed in his head." But opine that he is better coming off the bench. www.commercialappeal.com/sports/grizzlies/Grizzlies-Podcast-Talking--366733911.htmlGreen amassed his highest point total this season since scoring 26 points Dec. 13 in a road loss to Miami. He's scored in double figures in all but one of the seven games since he was benched for the second half of a Griz loss to the Houston Rockets on Jan. 12. www.commercialappeal.com/sports/grizzlies/jeff-greens-30-points-power-griz-past-orlando-in-108-102-overtime-win-2a1ca4b5-9e0f-6011-e053-010000-366505681.html
