Was gortat injured? Why did Gomer Pyle stop playing him? He was getting his ass kicked all over the court.

Regardless of reason, he was still getting his ass kicked all over the court.

The thing is that Nene is so bad on D sometimes especially at protecting the rim. Atlanta was having a layup drill. Both he and Gooden were always late on the rotation. Wall and Beal, while they scored well, took plenty of shots to get their points. Wall had a ton of assists, but both guards were torched on the defensive end. Meanwhile, Otto, who also did not shoot it, had 8 rebounds, six offensive, and held Korver to 1 of 8 from the floor. Baffles me why Whittman didn't go small from the jump in the second half. Still, they were right there at the end.

On another note, man I really can't stand Golden State. Steph Curry's release is so quick, and he shoots from distance so well, but I can't really appreciate him because of the memories of what he did to us. He's quite good, but I just hate watching him play and win. Ok, Im a hater...

Finally, MCI, where are you? It's the NBA playoffs, and we know you like the pro game. Looking for some commentary!

Still, they were right there at the end. Of course a matter of opinion, but I believe wall and beal are two of the better defensive guards in the NBA. Both played very well in the playoffs on D...Beal covered Korver more than Otto did....Otto would take Korver, when Beall covered a point guard. You gotta realize, in the NBA, noone is going to just shut down an All Star pg. Atl played a lot of two pg sets with Teague and Schroeder..then Otto took Korver. But the main point of Nene and Gooden being absolutely horrid on defense is something I concur with. Otto has an amazing nose for offensive rebounds and was lockdown on D in the playoffs. Still needs to get a bit stronger, so he can take back up some of those rebounds. He has lots of his shot blocked in this series.

The two point guards worked, cause they kept getting by them into the lane at critical times, it seemed. But as you say, the pros are just so damn good.

Jeff was really bad in the playoffs. He looked a step or two slow mentally, just not in tune with what memphis was doing on either end of the court. he went back and forth between being passive and forcing bad shots, and kind of fell asleep on both defense and offense too often. It was a real contrast to Otto - who was so locked in, making the right cuts, playing good D, doing all the little stuff. Otto is not near the pure athlete that Jeff is, but he looked like the more experienced player - because he was playing the mental/hustle part of the game really well.
If Otto can get stronger, he'll finish most of those interior shots that he got muscled into missing over the past few games. Hopefully the Wizards can get a real stretch 4 who can offer them a lot more defensively than Pierce could. Pierce got killed on defense on friday night. He is a tough, clutch player and leader. But he can't move his feet at all anymore, and this was never his strength. A solid stretch 4, plus Nene/Gortat sharing the 5 (and almost never playing together), and the wizards have a solid starting 5 for next year. Of course, getting a solid stretch 4 who can defend is what every team in the NBA is trying to do right now!

Very happy that Whitt is getting an opportunity to make his dreams come true. Too bad it didn't work out for him here, but as we all know, school isn't for everyone. Hopefully he recognizes the opportunity lost, and takes advantage of the one being presented to him now. Good luck!

Not the "real" big leagues, but big league in its own right. Omari Faulkner (class of 2004) is a candidate for Georgetown's Board of Governors.
