Henry Sims is one of those high-effort guys on the Sixers. He came over last February in the Spencer Hawes trade. He'd been a borderline pro prospect at Georgetown, but he's worked hard on areas like rebounding that kept him off the draft boards after he graduated in 2012. To be clear, what kept him off the draft boards in 2012 was the fact that he didn't do a damn thing from 2008-2011. I loved him as a senior and couldn't be happier that he's made an NBA career for himself, but to reduce his draft situation to "lack of rebounding in 2012" is ignoring the fact that he (admittedly) didn't work for three of his four years in college.

Terrific that Otto got the start and made the most of his minutes, especially with a good shooting performance. I hope this is the first of many starts, increased minutes, and an enlarged role in the Wizards rotation. During the prior 6 games, Otto was receiving 10th man minutes, which began to look concerning to any fan of the #3 pick.
Very nice to see the coaching staff confident enough in Otto to give him the start with the injury to Pierce.

Its definitely good for Greg right now. Not sure what they're long term thoughts are with him but they had to get rid of one of Smith, Greg, and Drummond.

I would be surprised if they just released him, and all the money still owed him, if they did not have an understanding that Greg would resign. Makes no sense to lose both, and get nothing in return.

The Pistons decided it was better to pay him $26M over the next two years to not play for their team.

Van Gundy needed to assert control over the mess which he inherited, and make a statement that the guys who will play for him will have to do things his way. I am surprised that it took this long to jettison Smith, but obviously they were trying to find some way to soften the financial hit.
Monroe will definitely see a bigger role. Van Gundy will appreciate some of the assets and stability Greg will bring.

Consultinvest VL Pesaro (Serie A) is close to add to their roster 25-year old American point guard Chris Wright (185-100kg-89, college: Georgetown) who currently plays Bakersfield Jam in D-League. In 14 games he recorded 12.9ppg, 3.6rpg, 5.9apg and 1.6spg this season. The last season Wright played at ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (ProA) in French league. In 32 games he averaged 7.0ppg, 2.7rpg, 3.7apg and 1.0spg. He also played 10 games in Eurocup where he averaged 8.2ppg, 2.4rpg and 3.8apg. The previous (2013) summer Wright was tested by Capitanes (BSN) in Puerto Rican league. In four games he averaged 14.3ppg, 4.0rpg, 5.5apg and 1.3spg in 2013 season. The most of previous (12-13) season he spent at Iowa Energy in D-League. In 42 games he averaged impressive 16.1ppg, 4.1rpg, 6.8apg and 1.6spg in 2012-13 season. A very spectacular year in his career as he was voted to USBasket.com All-D-League Honorable Mention and to the All-Star Game. Wright was called during the season by the Dallas Mavericks. But in three games he averaged just 0.7ppg in 2012-13 season. In 2011-12 season he played at Eskisehir Basket (TBL) in Turkish league. In 23 games he averaged 12.7ppg, 2.9rpg, 4.1apg and 1.0spg in 2011-12 season. Wright also played 6 games in EuroChallenge where he averaged 13.2ppg, 2.7rpg, 5.3apg and 1.8spg in 2011-12 season. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he played in the final of Big East Tournament in 2008 and 2010. Wright graduated from Georgetown University in 2011 and it is his fourth season as a professional player. On Wright: A strong, physical Point Guard with athleticism. Has all the qualities of a pure point guard but can also create off the dribble when needed. Has a lightning quick first step and can force the tempo in transition www.eurobasket.com/Italy/basketball.asp?NewsID=388453&showcomments=1&Women=0#c

Henry was the only player on Philly with a plus number. 16 points in 18 minutes on 6-7 shooting.

Yup and since he is out of the rotation the Wizards are 0-2 granted playing two tough teams. What Whitman is failing to realize with that 2nd unit with Webster and Butler they are redundant players who don't rebound or play d. The Dallas game when they were out there together is when the game got away. I'm not suggesting Otto prevents that but line up construction is important. Thabo Shefalosha isn't out there cause he is gonna score 15. He is out there cause he is in position plays d and moves without the ball well.

He really doesn't like Otto.

Rasual Butler came in and took Otto's minutes. Otto had a chance to cement a role off the bench but Butler simply outplayed him. It really is that simple.

He really doesn't like Otto. I don't think its necessarily that, but Rasual Butler has been pretty productive (their "best" 3pt shooter and best 4th quarter scorer) and Otto has been too tentative since getting nicked up in the Denver game. And the more I think about it, maybe he's been so concerned with re-integrating Martell so that he can show the rest of the NBA that he still has some trade value, but just a theory.

Otto got his spot back in the rotation and played well. Took Pierce and Butler spot in the 4th quarter out there but the Spurs are too tough and Wall and Beal took a bunch of bad shots late.
