Anyone watching JT III on NBA TV's Mock Draft program right now? As a Knicks fan, it's hard to deal with all the Melo talk, but there was a funny time where they talked about Syracuse and the (lack of) defense in their system, and how that impacted Melo's development...

I didn't catch it but I'm a Knick fan as well. I'm just hoping he's done in NY. As for the defense part of it, that requires effort and doesn't make headlines so Melo isn't interested. Never has been. When his defense has been questioned and the guy he's supposed to contain lights him up and that gets press, he usually puts in about 2 quarters of defense in the next game and then reverts to trying to score only. He doesn't even run the floor and make transition baskets like he used to so his offense is more lazy than it used to be too. You might be able to live with that if he was a great shooter. He's not that either. He's a volume shooter on a crap team right now that gets the ball much more than he should because the surrounding cast isn't very good. I would so very much love to see him on a team where he's not the first option or even, maybe, the second. Those games I'd watch. As the first option on the Knicks? No can do.

This is off-topic, but I don't know how you can watch the Knicks and say Melo doesn't put in effort. He basically carries the team for long stretches on offense, playing a very phyiscal style. He's not even a bad defender at all.
I think it's best for everyone if he leaves, but I definitely have some appreciation for his talent. I used to consider him a lazy player, but I don't think that describes him at all nowadays. He's flawed and ball-dominant, but he's not lazy.

That's not to say he can't carry a team offensively when he's on, but defensively? I just can't buy that every single guy he defends is an all-world scorer, which they tend to look like against the Knicks. Please don't resign him, and then please sell the team to a group that knows what they are doing. It's been difficult to cheer for the Knicks for a long time now.

Nah, you're wrong about the defense issue. He's not great, but he defends power forwards perfectly well. Stats back it up - does a good job on his guy and they were a much better defensive team with him on the floor. On the other hand the Knicks were too stupid to play him at the 4 last year for long stretches last year.
Anyway yes better if they work out a sign and trade that lets him play on a team that doesn't ask him to do it himself on offense and lets the Knicks do the full tear down and rebuild they have needed for about 15 years now.

Martell Webster had surgery for a herniated disc, out 3-5 months. Would imply more PT for Otto, especially if the Wiz don't resign Ariza.

Starks playing for Pistons summer league team. Show them what you got Kel. If he can earn a look somewhere in training camp he will impress with his heart and his effort.

As a Piston fan I can say we really need pg help. I can't stand BJennings and man do I hope Van Gundy can pull off the JSmith trade with SAC. Besides the Dukie the Pistons are lacking outside shooting. I would love to see Kel in a Pistons jersey..............

I was hoping he would be in the Las Vegas summer league. Pistons are only playing in Orlando. There's still a possibility he could play for another team in Vegas. Playing in both would give teams the most opportunities to see what he's got.

Seems like Greg Monroe is seeing a lot of interest, especially with the Magic and Blazers. Let's hope he gets a nice contract.

For a less informed individual, does the apparent amount of talent in free agency screw any Hoyas?
