I have heard the injury/ webster and ariza narrative on a regular basis, since Otto began killing it in Summer League. Because people are beginning to see how his strengths are his fundementals, playings angles, moving without the ball, high IQ...I think there will be much more positives for his Hoya experience than negative. However, you may recall Otto was quoted, possibly in the WaPo last year, that in the NBA he had to "get used to running up and down the court all the time, unlike in college." (paraphrasing). I hope that his vision issues emerged only recently and that the staff didn't miss it. No reason to think he was having any trouble seeing while he was with the Hoyas, but it is interesting that he suddenly needs goggles, especially given our history with players losing contact lenses on a very regular basis. So the Wizards just happened to miss the vision issue for a year and a half and it's somehow Georgetown's fault. If anyone missed it, it would be Wittman and his cronies.

Why would there be a need to "blame" the Hoyas or Wiz staff? Seems to me most folks can figure out if they are having trouble seeing on their own. can't they?

I didn't use the word "blame" or "fault." I just assume our players go through more regular physicals because they're athletes. And I've heard of people who actually didn't know their vision had declined until someone told them. a person who has never had glasses before has no reference point to tell if they're seeing perfectly or if things are a little off. Either way, not blaming anyone.

Otto is showing what he does best. Making smart plays on D and hitting open shots. Now with 17 pts. Pierce has not been back since late in the 1st. Otto looked awkward creating his own shot though. Still impressive.

Pierce was ejected in the first half. Otto has 19 pts in the second half. Fans were chanting his name.

I understand why Pierce is starting but I think Otto's game is accentuated by being on the floor with Wall.

It was so awesome to see last night. It is amazing, even at the pro level, how important confidence is. Otto has been a completely different player since Summer League. I am a Wiz season tic holder...have never seen the fans cheering a players name , as they did last night for OP. And he even threw down an alley oop dunk...which I hope to see much of this year from the Hoyas.

Hollis plays a lot of minutes to say he shoots so infrequently.

Hollis plays a lot of minutes to say he shoots so infrequently. Hollis needs to shoot more? Where have we heard that before?

From what I'm told by my Philly budsdy, Hollis does a lot of things for the Sixers, beyond just shooting. They say he gets boards and steals and plays good defense. I am thrilled he is in the league, and was always a fan of his as a Hoya...but never really saw that side of him with us. Obviously, he has the physical attributes to do more than shoot.

Remember we asked him to rebound a lot because we had to play him out of position at power forward. So he learned a lot of those intangibles at Georgetown.
