Regularman my ass! Love the effort. Now we just need him to keep the confidence, hit the gym and go to all you can eat buffets at least 3 times a week. It's clear he's worked on him midrange game, his footwork and his free-throw shooting. Essentially, the most boring crap you can work on. Kudos Mr. Sims. It's boring but it's effective!

I know I am not a half full guy but if he would have played like this his sophomore year. Things would have been soooo different. The flexibility JT III would have had would have been amazing. In that field, with the way the tourney played out, we would've won it all.

Henry making a couple jumpers at the top of the key is a total game changer. Almost impossible for the opposition to deal with our offense now. opens up the back door cuts.

Folks, Henry has always been capable of hitting a midrange jumpshot. He wasn't some Vernon Macklin clone who could not make a shot from more than four feet out (not saying he was a better overall player than Vernon though). He had that skill in high school. III can go ahead and talk about Henry needing to take the game seriously and work hard when he is on the court (and there was certainly truth in that), but to me III also needed to put guys like Henry in positions that they could most be successful. And for the first couple of seasons of Henry's career that should have been at the high post. But III seemed to0 ready to give up on Henry and keep him on the bench instead of keeping him on the court and allowing the kid to learn by playing good minutes in real games. Some of that comes down to III putting an understandable emphasis on what a guy does in practice. And some of that appears to come down to III's intent of keeping his rotations as small as possible. That makes me wonder....if III had brought in a Monroe-like big man/center in this class, how many minutes would Henry be getting at this time? No, I don't think III would've slid Henry to the four spot so take that out of the equation. Thus I think we would not have gotten a chance to see Mr. Sims do his thing now (at least these early results) because III would have had other options at the five spot.

Some folks bashed me for taking up for Henry...I used to always say leave the kid alone let him mature...he a college student learning how to become a man...let this happen in different areas of his life...now you're seeing the finish product...patience is virtue...folks on here bashed Big Hank's head so bad most thought he wouldn't recover...I know he would...here's a story I did earlier before the season... glidehoyas.blogspot.com/2011/10/shout-in-to-two-hoya-seniors.html

Who does not see Othella's hand in Sims vastly improved play this year? I've been thinking the same thing BE and trying to get some inside info to confirm it. I'd also like to know how Big O came back to GU. Who's idea was it? His? JT3's? When did they start talking about it. However it happened, it's been GREAT for us!

Actual online chat conversation I had with my girlfriend during the Memphis game:
gf (living in the US) - So are you going to be in a good enough mood to talk after the game?
me (living in the UK) - Depends on if gtown wins or not i guess
gf - I'm not sure I like that our relationship is going to be so heavily influenced by Henry Sims's play
me - I'm not sure I like that either, but what can you do?
gf - break up with you now?
me - maybe not the worst call ever

If sims can average 13, 7 and 4.... Sky is the limit for this team.

In fact III even mentioned earlier this month that he felt Henry had benefitted a lot from the work Roy had been doing with him over the previous months. Anyway here's a link to an article that I think none of us spotted when it first came out. Gives some insight into Sims and Thompson's relationship. washingtonexaminer.com/sports/college/2011/11/sims-benefiting-some-tough-love

Great find. Tough love seemed to play itself out in the Memphis game when sims took a questionable shot early in the shot clock in the first half and coach got in his face. We all know how henry responded.

MCI guy -- thanks for that link. Very interesting piece. I love the way it closed: Sims, who joined Georgetown in the shadow of classmate Greg Monroe, said he's benefitted from having the ear of Monroe and Roy Hibbert, who have both been around frequently due to the NBA lockout, as well as former Hoyas center Othella Harrington.
"Coaches don't spot everything," Sims said. "Players playing with you and at the next level can see it and talk to you, and it's coming from a genuine place." Sounds like TRUST and real affection/concern from teammates. Gotta love GU.
