To be fair, Syracuse did an investigation in 2005 and turned up nothing. However, now apparently someone else is coming forward which is why I'm guessing there is an investigation now. Penn State did an "investigation" in 1998 too

I am not sure whether I buy this story yet. It had more of a "Fred Brown" ring to it - maybe a bitter guy who had a falling out apart from whatever is thrown out in the press or harbored private bitterness. That being said, these kinds of allegations are serious and should be investigated seriously, and the Boeheim reaction (even if nothing happened between Fine and the complainant) is simply inadequate. These are also the kinds of allegations that may help others (if there are others) to speak out, which may say more than this story does for me. I haven't read anything that would lead that sort of conclusion. Not sure where you're getting that feeling.

Penn State did an "investigation" in 1998 too The problem was the Penn State's investigation actually turned up evidence of Sandusky's behavior and they didn't act appropriately on it. This investigation by Syracuse and ESPN in 2003 ended because no one corroborated Davis' story.

Exactly, Sleepy. That is pretty much why I doubt the complainant here as to the more serious of the allegations.

Wow. That set of posts on the Marquette board are shameful. How ignorant.

the 'investigation' here was handled by a friend of the defendant and the program - hardly surprised nothing turned up.

You do realize that people who were raped as kids are often reluctant to come forward? Yes - but the complainant pointed to others who would corroborate the story (not necessarily other victims, as I understand it). To be clear, you still investigate this and with open eyes, but I'm inclined to believe it only after we read something more official than the complainant's statements. Fortunately, this is why we have investigations - to gather facts.

Well, there's a big picture of Bernie Fine on the front page of the ESPN.com college basketball section. I have a feeling ESPN is going to flog this story to death, fueled by the huge story coming out of Ped State.

If there are more, we will be sure to hear about it within the next few days. Nevertheless, I'm waiting for the police to do their job.

Boeheim had reason to believe this was going on and failed to meet his legal duty to report - lock em all up and castrate Fine

Youv'e got to wait before jumping to judgment until the facts are out. Might be worse than we think or just a lot of smoke.
