You almost certainly are alone if want a "major overhaul" of all the brand new buildings surrounding the MSF. Which one, the gorgeous SW quad that was one of the biggest things to happen to campus in 200 plus years? Or the state of the art business school in the other endzone? Maybe the state of the art science center going up now? Or perhaps in your world heating and cooling plants all look like the Roman Forum. The entire area to which you refer used to be a parking lot/baseball diamond. Such a spolied kid. You should have seen the "backside" of campus when you were still crapping your pants, which I'm guessing was in the mid to late 1990s. You would have had something to complain about. Easy cowboy. Obviously I'm not referring to the business school or the science center, which you knew but apparently you just wanted to troll a little. Everything directly surrounding the football field is a dump. Between the power plant and its dumpsters on the home side, to the maintenance facilities and the dumpsters on the away side, the roads surrounding the football field aren't doing the MSF any favors. And this is ignoring all of the MSF's inadequacies.

Actually, I believe he compiled a list based on many discussions that have occurred over time on that board. Regardless, I defy anyone to argue with his (their) positioning of Gtown in the worst of the worst! BTW - Seems to me that with this IAC talk and active fundraising, GridIron Club and Coach Kelly should be lobbying hard and having constant discussions with the AD about the inclusion of the MSF in the plans. Anyone know if this is happening?

That used to be a lawn? Which part? Where the SW quad is or where the "stadium" is?

It's based on some running discussions from that board and that's my listing of what I've read. I've not seen Jacksonville, for instance, but it appears to be the most pilloried stadium, with the MSF a popular punching bag as well. Butler used to be in that discussion (and having seen the Butler Bowl it I would agree) until it was renovated. Relatively few Georgetown students attend college football games so I think many don't know how obsolete the MSF is by comparison to even a below-average Division I stadium. Restrooms, concession stands, a working press area...all standard equipment for schools is still looked upon as a novelty at the MSF. The condition of the "temporary" bleachers speaks volumes about how ill-prepared the MSF is to host intercollegiate contests and, yet, there is no sustained outcry from students or coaches demanding something better. (And the turf is already approaching its end of life cycle a few years early, so add $750,000 to that total.) Of the stadia I've visited, only Duquesne and the former home at Northeastern were even close to the level of the MSF. Again, and I've cited this in the past: Arlotta Stadium, Notre Dame. $5 million. 3,000 permanent seats, run bleachers on the Harbin side from the 10's and you're approaching 5,000 seats, which is about where Georgetown should be at this point. Even if you doubled the price tag, it would be a huge improvement and raise the spirits of the football and lacrosse programs immeasurably. forme AD, Bernard Muir came from there and did nothing for football or lacrosse and the facilities during his short tenure. Very sad as a stadium/facility like that would be an incredible improvement (what wouldn't be of course) for a small (relatively speaking) price tag.
However, I will be in the temporary seats tomorrow rooting for our Boys to upset Colgate. Hopefuly we will have a full house, it's a very big/important game.....the biggest of the Kelly era for sure.

I honestly don't think MSF rises to the point where we can say we have a terrible stadium. We don't have a stadium. We have a terrible facility in which to play football...largely because it lacks a stadium in any meaningful use of the term. I've long since had my expectations beaten down by deafening silence of the university on the stadium. Now I just want 5000 seat non-temporary bleachers the sort of which would be found at a mid-sized high school that has some pride.

Arlotta looks really small, I'm seeing capacity of 2k on wikipedia, which is what it looks like. Looks smaller than any 3k stadium I've seen. Is there another 1K on the other side?
I think we should have a rock bottom minimum of 4K as a base.

That used to be a lawn? Which part? Where the SW quad is or where the "stadium" is? Everything between Leavey and Lot 3 was green space. Most, but I don't believe all, of the north area was the baseball field and the area to the south, where MSF is now, was open lawn. You can see it in the picture of "Kehoe Field II" www.hoyafootball.com/history/stadia.htm

Gotcha. The baseball stadium was there when I was there, but the lawn was the soccer/lax Harbin field.
