They're not bringing in Kansas level talent that's for sure. They're supposed to be pulling in top 5 classes like Duke and UNC. They haven't the last two years. 2011: Best recruit #92 Naadir Tharpe. Even before the defections their class was only the 29th best according to rivals 2010: Class was #1 Josh Selby and #120 Royce Wolridge. Josh was inelidgible half the year, then did nothing on the court then left early. Royce Transferred after his freshman year. Class was ranked 23rd by Rivals. So this entire class is gone.
They have 2 recruits so far for 2012 a 5 star and a 3 star. They're not struggling compared to most schools, but they're struggling compared to the blue bloods and even compared to us or other top 25 type teams. Tarc was their #1 target and they supposedly lead for a long time but couldn't lock him down.

I don't care much about recruiting class rankings. The real measure of recruiting success is team success. As I said before, #3, #1, and #1 seeds the last 3 seasons. Looks to me like the recruiting pipeline has been pretty strong lately for the Jayhawks.
Until Kansas has some period of no success, I am hesitant to question their recruiting abilities.

Those results were on the backs of their previous classes. The point is with 2 bad classes in a row already and possibly a 3rd weak class now they won't have that same level of success going forward. Next year they'll have 1 Senior and No juniors, and a weak class of sophomores.

We'll see. I think you underestimate them.

do we really know at all where he is leaning at this point. I don't think he will go to freso st, even if it is home.

Mr. Upshaw may be on deck in regards to making a decision. Let's hope he had a good visit. Really think he may be the anchor we've been missing since Roy left. twitter.com/#!/Hoop_kid40

Kansas State *
RecruitScoop 'says' he's likely to decide within the next 2 weeks.

I suppose it there would be some justice in snagging a recruit from California, after losing an east coast recruit to UCLA.
Always a tougher sell to come cross country, but let's hope Upshot wants to be the next beneficiary of playing at Big Man U.

I have no inside knowledge, but I have a feeling Upshaw is a long shot now. Our recruiting press had been for KA, DSR, and TJ Warren with Upshaw possibly even further down the list. In addition to being cross country and being relatively late in the game are big factors against us
Also, looking at KState's roster, they have 2 7-footers (one Jr with limited productivity) and one Frosh so a big-man of Upshaw's talent could get minutes from day one.

I don't know MSB, I believe if a school makes a recruits final 3 or 4 then being "late" should be thrown out. Also what center on the Hoyas Roster has established himself as a fixture? I think Upshaw has as good a chance to play right away at G'town as he does at Fresno or K. State.

Upshaw and his parents said in an interview that they'd take all of their visits then decide. Him being at KSU is not unusual.
I guess his visits are over in a couple weeks, so we'll see.

KSU is his last visit. He might decide in two weeks. We will see. No clue which way he's leaning. Frankly nothing not even Fresno St would surprise me anymore.

If it takes them "a couple of weeks", then he'll be signing in April. A lot of things could change from now until then like the next Otto P.

Well he has until the 16th if he wants to sign early, so he has some time to make the decision and still sign early if he so chooses.

just a side note. the early signing period is the 10-17th, so he will decide in the next 10 days if intends to sign in the fall. Also I don't think anyone really knows where he is going to go at this point. But his parents apparently value a good education, so if that be the case then hopefully he'll go with us
