As the old guy on the board, would like to mention I was once young. Gasp. In fact I entered Georgetown about 3 weeks after turning 17. College life was no problem to me but, of course, I did not play bball. One of my first memories was being scared to death of Father Ross, Prefect of Discipline. Sorta like many basketball players in the JT era were scared to death of Mary Fenlon.

Since we are bringing the kid in early, staff must feel he is ready to contribute, physically and otherwise. We have no history of redshirting for non medical reasons, so I expect him to dress, and play if he earns the time. I agree, though as mentioned above, I don't expect a "huge" impact. that is, he won't be a starter and he won't be a major contributor - top 6 in the rotation. I also don't think he will be a big time scorer -- all as a Freshman. If he does get minutes early, it is more likely he'll be a contributor off the bench late in the season. A guy JT3 can put in to stretch the opposing D, hit a few threes, help our offensive spacing. One other not insignificant benefit, he'll get to be a on a team with Otto for an entire year... on and OFF the court. Otto seems to me like the ideal kid to have around for younger all your other players (even though he's only a soph himself). He works hard at the game, at the fundamentals, at doing things the right way. Didn't JT3 say he was the most prepared frosh he's ever had? SD's rep is he takes it a little easy from time to time, maybe doesn't focus on D and all the fundamental things. When the best player on your team (Porter) is also the hardest worker and most fundamental, the attitude spreads to all the teammates... especially an impressionable 17 yr old Frosh. IMHO.

To spare people from being scared perhaps we can post updates of current Hoyas in actual new threads in the main section of the message board rather than reviving the recruiting threads dedicated to them.
