10-8 conference record...20-10ish depending how much we dumb down our OOC which we should considerably. We will lose at Cameron no doubt. Bronxitos does not think the Big East will be fantastic next year. The usual characters will be there but we should be ok if we play more kids and get more out of our defense and protect our backboards. Do you think we'll be worse than a bubble team or better Bronxie? We will very possibly lose a couple of games in the Maui Tournament; Duke is in the tourney so we won't play schedule them until the next season. With our youth I would expect at least 1 if not 2 other OOC losses. But 10-8 is attainable in the BE, with a surprise win or two we can be right there come NCAA time.

The recruiting class we signed implies a change of strategy on JTIII's part. With a modified style of play I think we could be very good next year. Obviously if that doesn't happen then it's hard to say what will happen. Coach says that every year they look at the pieces and try to figure out a new way to skin the cat. Then try and figure out how to win with the group they have. Last year we played differently compared to the years before. It was a step in the right direction. We got out in transition more, we played a deeper rotation, and we pressed. Yes we didn't do these things full blown, but we did do them. Next year will most likely be a continuation of this trend. I expect to push the tempo a bit more, I expect to play a deep rotation and I expect for us to press more. I expect that this group will be a lot more blue collar than teams in the past. I think with players we have to get after it more on both ends of the court. I expect that Maui will be a rough patch but a great learning experience for us. Besides that tournament and Memphis at home I expect a soft OOC schedule to build confidence and get players time. The trip to China is going to help this team so much and this is the perfect year to do this. With so many new faces it will allow the staff to focus on one of offense or defense on the trip and the pre-trip practices( I assume offense based on coaches tendencies) So when October rolls around the team can already know one part of the game and we can focus on the other aspect of the game much more.

Team could definitely struggle to put it together for much of the season, OR the youth could energize the whole squad, force their way into the rotation, and surprise all of us with some solid results. The early season will be very interesting to see how things develop.

The great thing about the offseason is that we can speculate as we like. I'll totally disagree with hsb. The move back to a bigger lineup will imho will provide a return to a slower paced game both on offense and defense. With the lack of depth in the backcourt i can't see more than a token zone press used even less frequently than it was utilized this year. With size and length i am confident that we will primarily play and play it well the zone and matchup that has been. I'd like to think that this group will be able to run a little more off of their D and rebounds but history suggests differently. I'd be more than happy with 9-9 in the BE. If we are going to play a similiar schedule to the last couple of years in addition to Maui where we maybe the weakest of the stateside teams we could be in trouble early. Hopefully unlike most of IIIs teams this one has the potential to be much stronger going into feb and march. If we revert to our late season swoons the nit may even be a reach.

I honestly would rather make a deep run in the NIT next year than lose in the first round of the NCAA Tournament again.

Agreed. A one and done in the NCAA tourney is better. At least with an NCAA appearance, we know there was some success achieved during the regular season.

Agreed with Sleepy - I think the additional length/size will result in a return to a slow-paced, half-court style game... which, frankly, is JT3's strength as a coach anyway. I would be happy to see it again even if it is a little more boring.
I also think we'll see more matchup zone on defense than we have the past 2-3 years.

I don't think we should play slower, nor do I think we will. If anything, speed it up further.
The issue with slowing it down is we have no back to the basket scorer (yet). Difficult to play successfully on offense in the half court without it.

I just don't see it happening allen... Chris Wright was really the reason we played as fast as we did imo (which still wasn't very fast). Starks doesn't seem like the kind of player that wants to push it every time he gets the ball.
We talk about playing faster every year and it never really happens to any large extent at least. It's just not JT3's style - don't forget that Jay Bilas said we spend less time practicing the fast break than any team he's seen. I find it hard to believe that JT3 is recruiting all of these bigs to go against what he knows/does well.
That said, yes, we absolutely need a post scorer. Hopefully at least one of the freshmen can do it, or maybe Lubick can develop his more.

We're very long on the wings. We should definitely play more zone. I also think we should use that length in a zone press. We should use our athleticism and length to our advantage to get out in transition. We ran more last year than we did the year before. I see a trend in us pushing it more and I expect it to continue. Slowing it down with this group would appear to be a mistake to me. This team needs to use it's defense to make offense. There aren't enough proven scorers.

We ran more last year than we did the year before. I see a trend in us pushing it more and I expect it to continue. Adj Tempo 2011: 64.9, rank 259 Adj Tempo 2010: 66.9, rank 188

I think we pushed it more when we had the opportunity this year, but had less opportunities due to our worse defense this year. If the other team doesn't miss as much you don't run as much.
But the point was more that we've run more recently than we did in the hibbert years. not really in 09-10 vs. 10-11.
60.4, 58.7, 59.9, 62.2, 63.6, 66.9, 64.9. overall there's still an upward trend in our pace under JTIII.

Do you guys think Georgetown will host an NIT game in at least the first round?
Since it's already known that the Hoyas are NIT bound, is it possible they will include it with a season ticket?
