The Big East, by its lack of wins in the NCAA's (except for UCONN), can expect to receive fewer invites next year because it's generally believed the conference was over-rated this year. This leads to suspicion Hoyas might be NIT bound next year - if they can win 50% of their games, not a certainty, depending on the OOC schedule. At first i would agree, but the same thing was said last year but got 11 this year. Remember there are those extra three spots. I mean UAB got in this year! Thing about the Marquette team that got in this year. Next years team can easily be better than them in the regular season.

well diamond hoya,i have been a hoya fan before your a$$ was even born for one,i just tell it like it is the team has no proven scorers returning clark fell apart last year hollis is a good shooter if wide open.sims done nothing,so where do you see all this scoring and talent at?? i think this board is average at knowing anything about basketball anyway. i said last year before season this team would be 10-8 or 11-7 at best everyone was like 15-3 and 14-4 final 8 that did not happen did it. i know bball,i played 27 yrs and 6-7 in pros. dont tell me nothing about the hoyas,i love the hoyas, that is why i get mad we do not utilize the players right,it is the system jt3 runs. give calhoun or boehiem the same team jt3 has had since he has been here they would have 2 national titles. green, wallace, monroe, hibbert, summers, ewing jr,sapp, wright free, the talent has been here. it is this system, evewryone in the big east has figured it out,why do you think we loose 5-6 in a row ever year, play bad down the stretch, other teams know we are doing same stuff over over.stand outside pass around around,to 5-7 seconds force a 3 the back door stuff has been shut down by defences, that is why last 5 games you did not see it. it does not work when defence knows it over and over. mix it up or we will keep under achieving just like alonzo mourning said. we are not where we should be.
i am out !!!

I played with the Bullets in 1992-93. Sure, I was seven years old at the time, but in a 22-60 season, no one seemed to care, or even notice.

There are no proven consistent scorers in the returning players and JT3 has to find a way around teams that clog the passing lanes if the 3s are not falling. The rest is a revisionist's dream. We would could have won two national titles only if Green and Monroe stayed.

You are out . . . of your mind. Boeheim has coached for 35 years and has ONE title, so claiming he would have 2 titles in 7 years is childish. And very few posters were predicting more than 10-8 or 11-7 before the season, so please don't sprain your old NBA bones patting yourself on the back(actually you only claimed to have played pro ball, so I will presume it was Ecuador or Kuala Lampur). Since you know what will happen next season, please, PLEASE just go away and come back in mid-March to watch the NIT games you foresee.

stand outside pass around around,to 5-7 seconds force a 3 the back door stuff has been shut down by defences... Say what you will about the direction of this thread but the above is a pretty good representation of what happened last season when we didn't play well. I stand behind JT3 but I must admit that based on recent results I'm starting to waiver on our offensive system. It looks damn pretty when it works and it has gotten us a lot of wins in the last 5 years but sometimes it seems like it may be too much for the players to really excel at (at least last year's squad). Then again, if we had had more than an average frontcourt it probably would have made a huge difference. I think the jury is still out on our offense so I can't blame people for questioning it. I guess I'm still a believer but my faith is no longer iron-clad. Hopefully the new length and athleticism coming aboard will be the answer.

We're a bubble team next year. We just lost our two best players, plus our best big man from a team that wasn't all that great to begin with. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us in the NIT. Sure, we have a good class coming in, but nobody is entering with the level of hype of a Monroe, Macklin, Summers, Freeman or Wright. (And yes, I'm quite aware that hype isn't everything, but it's about all we have to go on pre-Kenner) I really hope this team makes the dance next year, but doing so would be a major accomplishment and would involve exceeding expectations. It's not a given. We should stop acting like it is. We went to the NIT with 3 McD AA's. Next year's team has 0, regardless of how close Porter and Hollis might have been to that honor.

I'm with royski. I could see us making it into the tourney as Jason stabilizes, Hollis steps up, and we get one more reliable contributor from the Nate, Markel, Henry, Porter, Vee group. I could also see us stagnating and missing the tourney.
Next year, I just want to see us play hard and aggressive and be a good defensive side. If we do that, I'll be fine with taking our lumps next year, because it will mean that the year after, we'll be legit.

There is certainly no guarantee that we make the NCAA's next season. None of us can predict exactly how this very different group of players will mesh, what role each player is able to fill, how well they fit together as a defensive unit. But we have some definite talent. The #13 recruiting class plus 3 of our top 6 players returning, not to mention kids like Markel, Vee, Moses and Aaron, any one or more of whom could take a big step up. There is some real potential, and it would not surprise me one bit to see them finish in the top half of the conference and get into the tourney. I don't think any of us will have huge expectations, but let's not spend the week after we score a major recruiting victory badmouthing the program. We should be entitled to a brief spell of euphoria. Honest, it is okay to be happy!

10-8 conference record...20-10ish depending how much we dumb down our OOC which we should considerably. We will lose at Cameron no doubt. Bronxitos does not think the Big East will be fantastic next year. The usual characters will be there but we should be ok if we play more kids and get more out of our defense and protect our backboards. Do you think we'll be worse than a bubble team or better Bronxie?
