yes, but he can coach. I'll take my chances vs VCU. Absolutely. Although VCU did in the Hoyas the last time they got a chance in postseason (ECAC South Final at Smith Center in 1978).

When do they announce the game times? Good question. And why don't they announce game times along with the brackets???

Let's face it, with the way we have played down the stretch, either team is going to be a tough out. I'm just happy we play on friday so Chris gets an extra day to heal.

CBS needs to figure out which games will draw best when - they usually announce game times later tonight or early tomorrow.
The second session in Chicago starts at 6:00 PM CST I think while the first starts at noon.

Do USC and VCU play their game in Chicago? All 4 prelim games are played in Dayton on Tues / Wed. Thank you. I'd say I don't like having only a day to prepare for our first team, but we had a week last year and that turned out great. Maybe not knowing will be better because we can just focus on coming out had playing and worrying about ourselves and things we can control. We'll see. We haven't won an NCAA game since 2008 and we haven't had any great moments in this tournament since 2007, so I'm pretty bitter about the NCAA tournament as a whole right now. It's only brought heart ache the last few years.

Yeah probably would rather see VCU. Although if Chris isn't 100%, we'd probably get chewed up by their press.
I take it USC's bigs are good. How big are they? Is Vucevic a banger or a more skilled guy? I don't remember Stepheson that well from UNC. Doesn't look like their guards are that big or that they shoot it really well. Has anyone seen them play more than once or twice? I guess the upshot with playing a team like USC is that what looks like one of their biggest strengths (defensive rebounding) could be essentially negated given that we shoot ridiculously well from the field. They also don't turn people over so much, so if we could get into our offensive sets, given their presumed unfamiliarity with our offense, we might be able to dictate the game a little more.

Game times will be roughly 12:10, 2:40, 7:10, and 9:40 eastern.
I need it to be a night game because I am traveling on Friday and I am convincing myself that is likely to happen so that they can give the winner of Wednesday's play-in game a few extra hours to recuperate.

@big Dog...I am the one that anticipate a Georgetown vs Purdue 2nd round matchup. If having confidence that a premire program can't win a 1st round matchup against inferior teams that are really fortunate to be in the tourney is profound stupidity, reflects your absurdity. If by chance that we lose (again) in the first round, I will not make any excusing. Yes, I am looking forward to playing Purdue and chanting what I have chanting now since '74 season We Are Georgetown

As far as prep time for our staff...I'd MUCH rather be in our position than VCU/USC..there is no reason our staff can't prep for 2 teams within the next 5 days and have a game plan ready to go.
I can't imagine the other two teams even do much scouting of us at all before their game.
Prefer to play VCU, but I like the first round draw either way. And that's all I'm concerned about for now.

I've seen USC live three times this year. If they survive VCU -- and I'm bettting against -- their fronmt line will give us trouble. I'd worry about fouls in particular. Still, they are wonderously erratic. Remind you of any other team? Still, having seen them, I think they don't get past VCU. More later if that happens. And I should say that the six spot, and our draw, are both really as good as we could have hoped.

They have to figure out which bracket is most likely to have the most games come down to the last shot so they can put Gus Johnson there. deadspin.com/#!5781418/washington-wins-pac+10-with-buzzer+beater-gus-johnson-loses-his- Cold! Yeah, you almost have to bet on us playing Friday night. The other pod involves ND in the 2-15 game, and you have to think they wouldnt bother making that the night game at the expense VCU/USC playing less than 48 hours before.

This is a great draw for Georgetown regardless of opponent. When we are playing even close to our potential, the Hoyas are one of the toughest teams to prepare for. Hopefully we can get back to our motion, backdoor offense and prove it is hard to prepare for us on a day's notice. I am just glad we will be back with a full squad and CW gets a week's worth of practice.

More background on how the games will be televised: sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/richard_deitsch/03/10/viewers.guide.march.madness/index.html?eref=sihpThankfully, it looks like no problems with CBS morons being unable to competently switch between games: CBS always had live look-ins at other games and also switched live to buzzer beaters. Will that happen this year?
Not nearly as much. Explained McM Edited: "Say the viewer is watching CBS and it's a 25-point blowout. He might say to themselves, 'What is CBS doing? Why are they sticking to this game?' Well, in the past, when it got to 15 points or so, we would protect the local markets and switch to another game. Now there is no switching other games in this scenario. There are four national broadcasts. Once the viewer gets used to it, I think he will like it and play the role CBS used to play. The clicker is in his hands and he does not have to rely on some CBS executive. He will switch himself. We have empowered viewers."
